    Looking for rookie stories...

We recently retired. 5 years ago the decision was made to not live in the town we worked in. So the home of 30 years was going to be sold anyway. That was an apron string cut. All of our children live/work out of town the closest lies 100 miles away and we see them 3-4 times a year the other...

Slip in Stuart Fl, for Oct-Nov 2021

Update on the apartments at Chapman’s school in Stuart Florida. We moved in two days ago. In the last several years they have been working on remodeling the apartments. The one I am in has basically looks totally redone: carpet, cabinets, refrigerator, stove top, all in new or very good...

    Sunrise/Sunset

Welcome to being a live aboard. I am 10 weeks ahead of you and my favorite time is sun rise with a cup of coffee. Sunsets are more social but that is my time. Enjoy the slow unwind. My coffee maker and toaster do not play well together. It’s to much of load on the circuit. Easy fix— coffee first.

Slip in Stuart Fl, for Oct-Nov 2021

Slip in Stuart Fl, for Oct-Nov 2021

I would have a car. And mooring field and dingy to school or car could work. My insurance requires the haul out. I guess hurricane clubs are, in part, are response to insurance companies.

Slip in Stuart Fl, for Oct-Nov 2021

I am in New Bern, NC. I am going to Chapman’s Trawler school Oct through Nov. I am trying to figure out if I should bring my boat 50’ or go in the dorms. I would need a “named storm” haul out place as well. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Change electric stove, install gas stove

I just bought a Ocean Al 50 ft. Gas stove ignition does not work but the oven one does. Propane tank is overhead in the fly bridge and also supplies the nearby Magma. Needs a selenoid. I have been advised to switch to induction, because most marinas in my area (NC/SC) have phased out refill...
