    Transitioning from "Dreamer" to "Doer"

Welcome! We bought our boat only a year ago. Still wide eyed and more than a bit nervous every time we move our boat for docking practice. Looking forward to sharing experiences.

Looking for knowledgeable Mainship owners in our area

Thanks for the suggestions. I’m making a list. Yes we do have an idea how it happened. The prev. owner told us a “funny“ story of allowing a prospective buyer to take the helm who couldn’t control the boat and hit bottom kind of hard from what he described. We thought nothing of it till now. I...

Looking for knowledgeable Mainship owners in our area

Okay, so we'd noticed a pretty good leak in the packing gland/stuffing box after buying the boat last June. We tightened and added more flax to its limit which got us from Fl. to GA. last August. Two weeks ago, we discovered a broken bolt on the very corroded shaft. So replacing the stuffing box...

Looking for knowledgeable Mainship owners in our area

This may be a silly question or maybe not even allowed but, I’ll try it and see... We've had our 1999 Mainship 350, single Cat 3116 engine for a year now. Our first boat. We are learning the systems and would like to meet other Mainship owners to compare notes and ask “What is this? What is it...

    We bought a Trawler! OMG!

I’m not talking NO-MO much on the job. Boss is a bit intimidated with my boating choice.

    We bought a Trawler! OMG!

Though we are in Chapel Hill, NC our boat is in Brunswick GA. We will probably bring her up to Wilmington, NC in the spring after we replace the packing gland and various other haul out maintenance. I’m making a list of things to check/do while the boat is hauled out. If anyone has suggestions...

    We bought a Trawler! OMG!

We'll go with fun for now, though when I’m at the helm and docking I need no spousal “back seat” chatter or I can get a little testy.

Lot's of discussion on the Yahoo Group

We just bought our first boat, a 1999 Mainship 350/390 in June. I’m here moving from the Yahoo group. I’ve already introduced myself on the TF Welcome Mat and now saying hi to this Marlow Mainship group. Adventures every minute when we’re on the boat!

    We bought a Trawler! OMG!

We’re certainly impressed with the thoughtful layout and sturdiness of the boat. As far as enjoyment goes, I think by this time next year after much practice moving into and out of tight slips, checking fuel levels, filling tanks, figuring out which sounds are okay and which might be “issues”...

    We bought a Trawler! OMG!

I sort of thought it may never really happen, this dream of owning a boat we’ve had for so many years. Then, just a few months ago (June) it all came together. Mainship 1999, 350/390. Our first boat! Three years before planned but everything fell into place. We bought it! So Hi everyone, yes we...
