    Miami Boat show

Hello everyone, we are looking for our new floating home and are still very indecisive... there are pros and cons to both a trawler and a sail boat. since we are struggling to find ones around here in St. Petersburg we have decided to go to the Miami boat show to see if we can start checking...

    Letting Go

We are doing just that, we put the house on the market, it is under contract to close next week. We had the kids over and gave them everything we intended for them to have when we passed but they didn't have to go through the pain and grief part.... after they got past the part of not wanting to...

    So it begins...

Thanks to all of you, Good advise. we had started looking and have been on a few that were great boats but not "the one". we will be going to the St Pete boat show. we wasted our time going to the Tampa one but still had fun, just more fishing and bay boats. Captain has a broker looking for us...

    So it begins...

We decided to not wait to find the perfect boat and then put the house on the market. We listed the house on the 25th, 10 showings the 26th, and contract on the 27th...…. Well that happened a little quicker than expected so we are now getting rid of everything and getting close to the closing...

    Mainship 390

We went out and looked over a Mainship 390. If you have looked at them or have knowledge of them what are some things that stick out to you that I should be looking at or for? There are a few things I would want to do right away to make it fit us but I don't know where to go to start looking...

    Good Morning

Thank you so much for the reply and you are so accurate. we have taken just those steps in getting our sea legs thus far. The art of finding good fuel

Hello Donna, thank you. Diesel is what I am asking about. Have you ever had trouble finding it and if so is there a specific area that would be the biggest concern? Region or island?

The art of finding good fuel

Hello All, I hope this is the correct Thread... When you are heading out to either the Bahamas or the Caribbean what is the best way to find fuel? Is there areas without or that sometimes have little or bad fuel? Is there an app you use or do you rely on this forum or another? After the recent...

    Good Morning

Very true and good point! I should have been more clear to my idea of safety. I was speaking the safety of the access of our bow from the cruiser compared to the Trawler as well as Galley safety and the mobility safety for the Grand Kids, and the dogs.

    Good Morning

The cruiser is great for short stints but we need the room and safety of the Trawler. The flybridge and extra deck space along with engines and storage are important to me as well as the comfort of the living area. They are really not compatible. The cruiser has 2 350 Merc gas engines and not...

    Good Morning

Again thank you for the input. It appears we are on the same page with expectations. That is what brought us to settle on the Mainship, it seems to check all the boxes and when we are winding down ( thinking 5 years) we can decide if we just want to fly over and take some time off the boat or if...

    Good Morning

Hello Wifey B, thank you!! Yes we will start in and around Florida, our current home and then Bahamas for quite some time but with the hopes of hitting some of the Caribbean islands in the far off future. I am excited to hear your input about the boat choice.

    Good Morning

We are looking for a 2001-2005 Mainship 39ish. That seems to be the sweet spot for having the Grand kids and the dogs and seems to hit on almost everything on the check list. Mainly a forward berth an easy access from the water as we are avid divers and ease of loading the dog on and off the dinghy.

    Good Morning

Hello all and thank you for having such a great forum for information. We have been planning and practicing and charting and now we are ready to get the big boat and start the adventure. But I must say the learning has been an adventure as well. I promise to not bombard you with questions...
