    36 owners wishing they bought a 42?

The living space will increase dramatically, but so will the fuel costs. If fuel costs are not a consideration, then go for the 42. That's the upside. The downside is that depending on age of you and your crew, docking will be a little more strenuous, probably, a lot more. The other downside is...

Putting an offer on a boat sight unseen tomorrow

I know this thread is long and I'm sure you missed it....I'm getting a survey. Yes, I missed it and glad you are getting a survey. That saved me from writing about a news article about this guy that was getting married to someone his family had promised him to. After the wedding when she...

Putting an offer on a boat sight unseen tomorrow

First off, your insurance company may require a survey. So, you might as well get it BEFORE you buy. Now for a short story: When I was looking for my last sailboat I was on many sailing sites. I ended up in a Hunter sailboat forum. There was a guy there that was like the ultimate guru. He had...

Can you legally buy a new 2 stroke small OB (around 10 or 15 HP) in Canada and bring it back to US?

Driving from the fly bridge or not?

I have a 36 Mainship DC (Aft Cabin) model. I have steering stations in the salon and the fly bridge. Just came back from an approx 4,000 mile trip from Houston, Tx. to Knoxville, Tn and return over a little more than a 3 year period. We have never used the lower station in the salon. We have a...

Back in Kemah, Tx. We were supposed to stay a few more days in Sabine Pass due to weather. Blue and Michelle were going to come by and bring us over to their place for the day. That was Sunday. I woke up around 6 AM and just looked outside and it didn't look and feel like T-storm weather to...

I lived in Newburgh, NY in the Hudson Valley from 1971 to 1976. That was probably the best time in my life. We always used to say "there is nothing you can do serious enough to get arrested in Newburgh, NY". It was a fun wide open town. I don't remember ever sleeping during those 6 years. It was...

Hey Doug Blue is a trip all right. We spent some time together today, the 4 of us. Blue took us shopping to Walmart and we all had lunch at some kinda of RoadHouse, might have been Texas. Oh BTW, last night we found the Power Cord Adapters. I took the whole boat apart looking for them a few...

Hi Ronnie (Kart racer). We stayed at Lake Charles' L'Auberge casino dock an extra day due to weather. We left there yesterday morning and got to Sabine Pass, Texas late yesterday afternoon. When we arrived, Dimer was already at the dock and helped us tie up. After a short while he whisked me off...

    Replace Princess Stove Oven

I found an exact replacement for my Seaward/Whale 2247AC-5100. I dont remember the exact situation because I dont have my notes any more. I had the Seaward 2247 Stovetop. When I called Sure Marine in Seattle, they had 2 similar models and the specs for one of them was only a fraction of an inch...

Good luck with bringing Evangeline home to Lafayette. We just deal with things as they come. 'Situations' are all part of boating. Where in NE are you?

Since we left DDalme (Doug), we have been to Myers Landing in Lake Arthur, La. and now comfortably tucked in the L'Bourge Casino dock in Lake Charles, La. After tying up, we had a great buffet dinner there this evening. The buffet is the only way I can consistently beat any casino. Sometime in...

After leaving Morgan City/Berwick area in La., we continued to head westward. Hell of a strong wind hit us on the ICW. We had 2 foot seas, white caps and foam streaks in the ICW in areas barely 300' wide. I estimated the winds to be around 25MPH from the west and dead on our nose. It blew lots...

Marina with free electric not really free

This could be an ongoing issue. If practical, I would find another marina or encourage the owner to get meters for each slip and everyone pays their own electric bill.

    Markel Insurance

I am currently using them and had no issues. From others that i have spoken to, they had no problem with claims. I am about to change carriers now because Markel does not cover wind damage from named storms and I am back on the coast where we have Trop storms and Hurricanes. If not for that, I...

Meal? Did someone say 'meal'? Doug, I was looking at my charts and Cypremort Point would be a great place to be. Sure beats my next choice- Bayou Petite Anse. My wife just cant get over how nice everyone in Louisiana really is. This last leg of our trip between Long Beach, Ms. and through La...

We made it to Houma, La. in 2 days like we hoped for. We got here the day before yesterday and met Ronnie (Kart Racer) for the first time. Really great guy. He offered rides anything else we needed. Yesterday morning started out with a stop to a bakery where he had surprised my wife with a King...

From my experience and others also, there is a very good likelyhood that you wont be able to head north out of Mobile Bay until late May or early June. The frequent late spring rains bring flooding and lots and lots of logs coming down the Mobile River.

Will say hi to Ronnie and Steve for you. We have eaten there before. It's hard to explain to anyone that has not been been to coastal La. that hospital food can actually taste good. We also plan on going back to Bilello's Cafe. Great food there. I'll let you know when we get to Lake Arthur...

after a month and a half lay-over in Long beach, Ms., we are back on the road. Left there this morning, made it through the Industrial lock and Algiers Locks and are now camping out below the locks. Tomorrow, we will be in Houma late afternoon, and spend an extra day or 2 there. Hopefully, we...
