    Interesting boats

This one has been on the market for a few years now in Tasmania Australia. 70' Wooden ex- fishing boat; running an old Cat 3408. The price is $98000 AUD plus GST etc. Apparently built by Western Boat Building Co in 1951.

Yes, it is a bit big size wise for me ( and too far away), as I am in Australia, but it's an old ticker. One issue would be spares for the old diesel.

Get home propulsion - strange ideas

Agree about the feathering prop. Ok see where you are coming from, so how about a, Yanmar D27 Diesel outboard engine or similar? An outboard but runs on diesel, hooked on the back and just run a temporary hose back to your diesel tank ( with it's own inline filter). Small enough to be...

Get home propulsion - strange ideas

Having a secondary aux motor (of course smaller) may be a easier permanent fix running a separate smaller propeller like this.... but it would only work on a larger boat. The normal size prop. may be too big to turn but the small motor on it's own.

    Tasmania

Hi La-Salette, I am up the north of the state and new here too. Not on the water just yet as I am in need of my own boat. Your lump of wood looks just the shot, and you have done a great job with her. I hope to come down your way and maybe check it out. Allan

    Greetings from Down Under

LaBomba, return greetings and salutations, the short answer is no, I didn't know about it either,so I looked it up. I think it would be great if it helps my lady, so I will tell her tomorrow and see if she will give it a go. If it gets her to appreciate being on the boat then I will enjoy it...

    Greetings from Down Under

Scallop pies are the best in Tassie for sure, I will check out the ones in Bicheno when next there - Blue Edge Bakery, I think is the one. I would love a full walk 'round deck , better access for lots of things, like fishing and docking. Plus a little space for a chair and an esky! :socool:

    Greetings from Down Under

Sealeaf, Glad you enjoyed your time down this way. Yes there are a few nice ones, they have a big wooden boat following down here, so some locals want to steer me that way. I do love wood, but it has to be in top shape I am told and maintained that way to make it worth your while.

    Greetings from Down Under

Thanks guys, for the welcome and support. Trying not to spend my money just with my eyes but with common sense. lol, But I like practical slower boats rather than fast and shiney ones.

    Greetings from Down Under

Hi everyone, just joined, but still trawling( so to speak) the available craft. I am retired and want to be closer to the sea, but my wife gets vertigo going around fast corners in the car. So of course this is a hard sell no matter what boat I decide on. I have a largish family ( 12...
