    Boarded by Coast Guard

A little professionalism and courtesy go a long way. When the beer bellied Deputy is treating you and your family like a drug bust, and uniformed members of the CG are decked out in SWAT gear with loaded weapons, all because they want to check a sanitation device, the lost respect comes out.

    Strataglass big disappointment

I had a StrataGlass panel do the same thing as the OP's within 6 months after installation. It never had anything on it except water, mild soap and a microfiber cloth. IMO it's a quality control issue with the manufacturer.

    Boarded by Coast Guard

That's the FRE inspection (Florida Revenue Enhancement). No other purpose than to add money to the county's budget. I went through one of those at Daytona Beach (Halifax Harbor). At 7am my boat was surrounded by Sheriff Deputy's and the CG had people there as well. They woke us up (Me, my...

cover me, I'm going in - first time buyer

Not sure what kind of boat you are looking at, but if you are going off of pics and the word of the owner or broker, be prepared to be disappointed. South Florida is where boats go to die. Many boats being advertised down there are nowhere even close to being what is advertised or claimed...

    Avaricious Parasites, Riviera Beach Marina

And the other part of disputing with the CC provider, is that they will not release the funds to the marina until the dispute is settled. This get's the marina's attention.

    Avaricious Parasites, Riviera Beach Marina

Call your credit card provider and put in a complaint. Unless you signed something that states that once you pay the month's premium but don't use it, it's non refundable, then you have a case. As far as them holding a security deposit, that's a major no go, again file a complaint with the...

    How close is too close?

Every marina has the busy body that has nothing better to do than stand on the pier trying to get everyone to slow down, even if you aren't really making a wake.

    How close is too close?

Here where I boat we have a narrow channel out to Galveston Bay. Unfortunately the Billy Bobs don't understand channels much less anything else on the water, it's "get in 'er and go!". I've came close to running aground a few times in order to avoid being hit.

Has anyone bought a bit of a fixer upper??? 46’ Jefferson

Run the comps on what the same model non fixer upper is selling for. Disregard what sellers are asking, what they actually sell for is what counts. Take into account what needs to be done to bring this boat up to Standards. Also, the engines are very high time for 3208’s. While they may go...

    How close is too close?

Galveston Bay and Clear Lake Texas. The Billy Bob's get liquored up and will come by at high speed so close, that if you had another coat of wax they would hit you. And I've watched them wake small boats almost swamping them. Add in a holiday weekend and it expands ten fold, which is why I...

Has anyone bought a bit of a fixer upper??? 46’ Jefferson

First of all, I know surveyors who will gladly write a survey and never get within several hundred miles of the boat. Take any owners survey with a grain of salt. Also, the 35k in blister repairs, again, a grain of salt. He owns the yard and wants the boat sold. No way is he going to put...

How much did you pay for your bimini?

I did mine using a Necchi home sewing machine, which if I remember correctly was a $300 machine. I have since upgraded to an Omega Walking Foot machine (Sailrite clone) that set me back $500. The walking foot does make it easier when doing large isenglass panels. So, even with buying the...

How much did you pay for your bimini?

I used my dining room table, it worked fine. And on the part about patterns, take the time and make lots of notes, measure several times.

How much did you pay for your bimini?

It's not really. I never had operated a sewing machine until I did my project. I watched the Sailrite videos on YouTube, walked around the marina and looked at how others did it and proceeded.
