    Deck repairs

This piece was from the original owners when they put a diesel heater in aft cabin. 1/2" decking first, 1/4" glass, 3/4" plywood and then 3/16 glass

    Refinishing exterior brightwork

Heat gun and scraper, it's varnish removing 101! Plenty of great videos on YouTube on how to do it! Keep heat gun moving so as not to burn the teak, you'll be fine as long as you keep focused!

    Fuel tank patching

Marinetex is Excellent and there is an aircraft putty that is comparable that also resist petroleums but I can't remember the name at the moment! It cures hard but can be easily sanded!

    New to large boats

If that's the one in San Diego, it's been on the market for at least two years, maybe more. You might be able to barter really well on this one!

    Film "all is lost"

The way Redford moved around the boat, it had seemed he'd never been on one. He looked very uncomfortable!

2013 The Year in Marine Photos

The cook found in the tug boat two days later trapped in a 100 ft. of water on the ocean floor is amazing!

    Hatch Wood Fix

Instead of sikaflex for the black caulking lines, I used west epoxy, filler and their black filler for the seams between the teak so the varnish adheres better!

    Care of rubber gasket material.

Silicone in a liquid form, it will not deteriorate the rubber. It's perfect for plastic or nylon bushings too!

What is the most interesting thing the PO left on your boat?

The owners left the boat with everything from to A to Z. Over 100 brand new filters, pumps (assorted), belts, several gps units, charts galore, plenty of NOS engine parts for Lehman, manuals on everything, hand drawn drawings on the systems, electrical and plumbing. A lighthouse mixed drink...

    Fuel Tank Leak

Marine tex works great. A friend of mine had a leak on bottom of his tank on his diesel truck. He drained the tank, cleaned the corner where it leaked and then sealed it with marine tex. It's going five years and still does not leak. It's impervious to gas and oil!

    Reco for waste hose

The proper hose has to be Teflon lined, if not the sewage makes pin holes in regular hose. Keeps the extra funky smells from escaping through the lining of the hose. Forget what I paid per foot, but remember it being quite expensive!
