    question on boat delivery

The example was for the FL/GA line on the east coast, you picked the FL/AL line. The west Cost of FL is about 700nm... Buy a really good boat and take it yourself or hire a captain. I did NH to SW FL, 1500nm 15 days underway (24 total due to weather), long days 10+ hours. 2019 costs were...

    Florida eye candy

Happy to say I am in the water 12 months a year. She stayed right where she is as Ian's eye passed over our house, 177 MPH winds. The pool cage was lost but has been replaced...

Water blasting barnacles below waterline while diving?

Have you thought about using an ultrasonic anti-fouling system like sonihuall or hullshield? Install once and never have to drive and scrape again.... will likely pay for itself in one season. The USCG uses the technology on most of their smaller vessels.

    ST-44 - Hurricane Ian Damage

I've been sewing sails, covers and upholstery for 45yrs (DYI). I learned the trade from my father who worked in the shoe industry his entire life. I am fortunate to have learned form him and to have his vintage Singer cobblers machine 24" cylinder and walking foot. I still only do DYI projects...

    350 Sliding Salon windows

Hurricane Ian tossed something thru one of the sliding windows of our 350. The glass shattered and the Aluminum edge on the back of the glass is missing. It is an extrusion with the rubber glazing, rudder wipe strip and receives the latch from the other pane. Does anyone know of a source for...

    Folding mast Mainship 350/390 1999

I added a hinge on my '99 MS350. I also added 12" height to the mast getting a clear view forward over the bimini. When folded the radar drops inside the stern rail and rest on a piece of PVC pipe. I designed the hinge and can probably find the drawings if you are interested. I will look for...

    Thoughts on the Mainship 350/390?

Mine has an access hatch. As long as the cleat has a closed base, there is a tricky way the get a threaded plate behind the cleat by making a slot under the cleat. The slot only needs to be big enough to slide the narrow edge of the plate thru. Make the threaded backing plate. run a wire...

    Thoughts on the Mainship 350/390?

There is about 2-2.5 inches around the edge that is all glass, about 1/4in thick. Then you hit the core, 1/8in glass each side with 1/2 core. I would always put backing plates on any cleat, screws and even bolts with smaller washers tend to pull or at least cause stress fractures. Buy a piece...

    Thoughts on the Mainship 350/390?

Correct, I removed the deck, not the trunk. flipped the deck over and cut the underside of the deck out. Replaced all the old core and wooden supports, glassed over everything.

NEWB question - Water pressure all the time?

When I leave for more than a couple hours: Water pump off, water heater off, shore water off. If you have a leak shore water will flood you, the water pump will empty your tanks, and if the leak is below the hot water tank it will empty and fry.

    Thoughts on the Mainship 350/390?

1999 ms 350 I have owned a 350 for 8 years now, third owner of the vessel. She is rock solid and very seaworthy been out in 45kt winds and 10+ ft seas. The boat handled it much better that the crew. I have twin VP200's and would not trade them for anything. As others have said, get a survey...

    PVC inflatable registration number ideas

If you get the numbers/letters made of exterior sign vinyl, the stuff they cut auto/trunk signage from, they will stick to both fabrics. I put them on mine 8 years ago along with t/t kuleana kai, still there and looks great.

    Refurb a swim ladder??

On mine the bolts that hold the ladder on were in a backer plate molded into the platform. I would use those same bolts for any replacement, even if you have to fabricate an adapter plate.

    Refurb a swim ladder??

I have the same ladder on my 99 350, it is dripped in plasikote. The coating will easily peal off all the aluminum parts with a putty knife. Then the aluminum needs to be prepared for a new finish. The stainless mounting bracket is not as easy to clean, the bond is much stronger. I stripped...
