    T Mobile 55+ Plan

As a Merchant Mariner most of us use T-Mobile, They have best international plans and by far the cheapest domestic plans. Att international sucks both in voice and data and extremely expensive.

    Gh74

I too would build the 74 if I hit the lottery, although I think a 60 foot would be a little more optimum for my needs. I have always liked the GH47's.

    8Ds versus Diesel Truck Batteries

Well, when I bought my boat 5 years ago, it needed batteries. It had 4 8d wet batteries. I replaced them with 4 Barracuda AGM's at a cost of a little over 2k. This fall they gave up the ghost and 4 new barracudas were now over 3500 bucks. Since my boat is all 120AC electric, as in stove...

    Portlight Hinges

You should be able to use them again as long as you don't mushroom them. That's where an actual pin punch comes in to play. If not they can be found in just about any hardware store, just make sure you get stainless steel. Also your ports may be Bomar.

    Boat buying blasphemy

I love that everyone is passionate about different brands, I have owned Wellcraft, Grady White, Bayliner, Californian and spent a lot of time on Trojans, Alglas, Ulrichson, Silvertons, SeaStar The latter owned b my Father. The one thing I do know is that a boat is only as good as the owner. If...

    Cell phone coverage East Coast

I sail as a Merchant Mariner and most of us use T-Mobile as there International coverage and charges beats the crap out of any other carrier. I have seen signal as far as 20NM of the coast. I saw that in Iceland, England, Scotland, South Korea and the Philippines. No enhanced signal boosters. I...

Opinions are like .... well you know. Facts are facts. A lot of high hour engines, different brands all running well and then there are a lot of low hour engines all brands that have been grenades and have had issues. A few things I do know. I am a professional mariner and have come to love...

    TF members from Jackonville/St. Augustine

Just curious to know how we fared in the wake of Irma. I am at Harbortown Marina at Atlantic Blvd and the Intercoastal. We did not lose any boats and very minimal damage to some canvas. I heard that Trout river was devastated and Beach Marine lost a lot of the floating docks.

Transatlantic cross in single thread Trawler

I have navigated pretty much all over the world both in the Navy and as a Merchant Mainer and unless you just happen to want to do a transpac or translant for bragging rights, more power to you. It's boring and you are on your own. I know a lot of people do it and good for them. I would just...

Can you dock your boat single handed???

Yes, Get your lines ready prior to getting to slip. Use your pylons tand rubrail to pivot off if needed. Once you get a routine down it really doesnt matter what slip you are pulling into. Some are easier than others. Also learn to read the wind and current. They are major factors in any docking...
