    Interesting boats

More pics are up on the CL ad for his boat. I passed because with the swim platform and anchor she just won’t fit in slip. The photos are sparse, but he is not competing with hundreds of plastic boats either. Only eight 50-70’ Steel boats have been on YW since 2015 in the PNW….. Someone...

FYI, I have no skin in this, I passed on her (Pacific Breeze Steel 60’). But I did do the calcs from boat diesel and that prop (44x46) is fine. 360hp, 3.83 gear ratio, approx displacement 130,000….for those who want to do the math. The prop looks small next to massive rudder perhaps...

Love this boat but going to pass: 60’ without swim platform. Steel. Cummins 855. 3500 gallons fuel. Sorry, can’t post a photo but they are in the ad. https://portland.craigslist.org/nco/boa/d/warrenton-60-steel-trawler-long-range/7533807444.html

54' Canoe Stern Trawler by Sparkman & Stephens

Got a request to show the flybridge helm, this is the only picture I have at the moment. There is room for the 11' RIB on the deck, there is also seating for 2-3 people to starboard (or 1 lying down).

The dink is stored on chocks and lifted / lowered by means of a davit with a hand crank. This can be done by a single person. The hand cranked wire-rope winch is sufficient to easily lift the dink (and 15hp motor) along with fuel tank, anchor, etc.

I've had questions about the boarding ladder. The ladder shown in the photo is stainless and will extend down so that the platform is below the waterline, putting you at about knee deep, this is perfect for swimming and far enough below water that the dink doesn't bump it when you come...

A couple of years ago I got a quote for $30,000 to ship it via Yacht Transport from Florida to the West Coast. I've also gotten a couple of offers to help me transport it on her own bottom for free (wink).

Door to engine room, then taking a sweep of photos from port to starboard. The height is sufficient to sit at a stool comfortably. Again, I am underway and utilizing most of the space for storage.

I believe the tankage is accurate with the additional comments about fuel posted above. USCG docs say 42 tons.

As to photos of the engine room, I will get some posted..... when Everything non essential (like bikes, trailer, scooters, spare parts) are taken out of it. To the question of fuel capacity. It may hold over 500 gallons but mind you I don’t care. I’m burning 2.6 gph as I type according...

I have a rigid boarding ladder with fold down platform that does help with the comfort of boarding the dink. I have my 70 year old mom on board and she is managing fine with something solid. I will get a photo of the arrangement (when not underway and in heavy fog) and post it. In my...

She has considerably less roll than most fellow boaters I see when anchored. She does not have active stabilization, only "bilge keels". The link to the sales ad has pics, they are substantial, about 22' long.

I saw this boat on trawler forum before I became her 3rd owner. I knew I had to have her as soon as I saw her lines, that she was US built and Fiberglass Construction. I've enjoyed this boat for long range cruising, she is well accommodated and very well behaved. I'm giving the fsbo route...

Newb*, can't post photos yet, but I have an "Interesting Boat" and this is why I am rejoining the forum again. I apologize that I am intruding in the conversation, I found it fascinating that this thread existed partly because I know the very boat that started the thread (Romsdahl built...

She has a pretty behind...(considering enclosed smimplatform)

This thread may have satisfied my itch. Bolting on an aluminum monstrosity is not what I want to do, nor is spending a bunch of money on engineering a fiberglass extension. As stated in a prior post, many of these extensions get done without cutting into the hull and I haven't heard of a...

    * * *Yes.... slow work, I have hundreds of hours on a sander doing glass work,* without a mold it's a big job to look factory.... Girder Strength... were the taiwanes trawlers engineered in the first place?* Ha ha.

She has a pretty behind...(considering enclosed smimplatform)

Phil/Fill, the Q of why do I need a bigger deck is the one I always ask myself. Answer: I don't........90% of the time. We don't fish much and when we do we work it out (Y to downriggers for salmon). Pulling in shrimp pots is a little more painful with limited deck space. In the end, a...

Carey, great explanation. The bulwarks do add structural integrity- that is easy to see. I'm thinking it would require a great deal of skill to have the finish look factory on the outside and on the inside of the cockpit...plus matching the cap-rail. my thoughts.

Queen berth in a 34 Tri cabin?

Here is what I did to my aft cabin, before and after (36', not a tolly) hope it helps.* Okay, they're not to scale, but you get the idea.* Its a queen and it fits.* I removed the stairs and made room for an extra refer/freezer.*** You can still get out if you needed to for emerg, just not as...
