    ROLLERS for sliding doors?

You would not believe what you could not find here on the west coast of Thailand. Outside of Phuket I mean. Based on feedback here, what I finally did was cut 4 strips from a nylon (?) cutting board and carefully install two on the underside of each door. The tracks are aluminum channels. It...

    Choosing an Autopilot???

There are so many choices and I have to confess, I've never even seen a system. It was suggested to me by one who seems to know, that since I have hydraulic steering that is pump driven, adding an autopilot to my boat would be simpler and perhaps cheaper than on some.* That guy is away right...

    Our dilemma

Yup - look at a higher price than your budget and look at boats 1 or 2 (or 4?) feet bigger than the ideal. Here's a "deteaked" 35' CT Trunk cabin that looks real good in the pics. The broker even comments about the teak removal being done correctly. Under your budget. so you could afford to...

    Our dilemma

I'll add a penny to Chris's comments, this too about using yachtworld.com I used to do searches there for specific boats. Then, I started using the Advanced Search function and just put in the parameters that interested me. size, price, single diesel, etc etc. without specifying brandname. The...

    Grabbing the Mooring Bouy Ring

Great question Chris. I am trying to learn the best technique myself. With crew on board, best success so far has been to "thread" the line through the bout loop while near the stern. Then slowly reverse while the Admiral walks the line forward and ties it off. I also saw some pole, snap ring...

    ROLLERS for sliding doors?

Thanks everyone! I'm going to add nylon strips to the bottom of the doors. They already slide in an aluminum channel and I can see that adding nylon would be pretty simple. I expect will reduce friction considerably.

    ROLLERS for sliding doors?

My wooden custom trawler has sliding teak doors in the pilot house. They are heavy and do not slide well. Rather than treat her like a fishing boat and put grease in the tracks, I'd like to add hardware under*each door to make it roll or at least slide better. I've done a minor search with...

    Chasing the Dream

Claus and Chrissie - thanks! Lots of boats from "down under" here in Rebak. Mostly sail. Fred - I'm sorry - no help. When I was done I did run acrossed a guy who had a boat done in fiberglass. My impression is that when you find this, it's run by a westerner and that by the time you pay for the...

    Chasing the Dream

The seeds were planted 8 years ago while on a business trip from the US to Singapore. During some leisure time, over a cold beverage, I hung on every word as a man from Holland, unknown to me, reported how he was just finishing a new wooden 60' sailing yacht in an Indonesian boatyard for $9,000...
