    Seaplane vessel collision, Vancouver Harbour

Yes...I think that sums it up. Thinking about the whole ordeal kind of leaves you shaking your head that it still works the way it does. For instance the Sea Planes at the Dry Tortugas. You know its just a matter of time. But at least those turbo props have reverse thrust....but still.

    Seaplane vessel collision, Vancouver Harbour

A different perspective....regs aside. The plane Captain is a highly trained professional performing his duties for pay and toting Pax. The boater may be a new boater out for a Sunday stroll with barely a legal mandate for anything. IMO the plane Captain has to make up that difference with his...

    12v power drops off.

Do you have your original wiring harness on the engine? See if you have any of those old trailer plug connectors. They are terrible. I had two between the engine and batt and panel. My voltage would be all over the place on the panel. Shake the plug and I could get voltage back. Shake it again...

    Alternator has gone unserviceable

But the troubleshooting was spot on!!! I am quite certain everyone learned something going through this exercise! lol. When I was in the Marines I took over a troubleshooting problem on a Helicopter APU that would not start. I did some beautiful troubleshooting that pinned it down to a fuel...

    Lithium house bank project

It came out great. I may have misled slightly saying its a full Victron. Its full Victron except the two 460ah Epoch batteries. I assume with your 990ah number you have actual Victron batteries and Victron BMS as well as components. In my learning about batteries and systems, a full Victron is...

    Lithium house bank project

I just got done yesterday commissioning my 920ah and full Victron system. It is a learning curve for sure. More than I figured.

    ABYC ELCI requirement

Charlie J, I want to thank you. I had to read a bit to get through this as I have never done leakage. You have a thread in this forum that laid out everything concisely. Clamp around shore power cord showed an elevated number with a basic clamp meter, this prompted me to get the Megger. Your...

    ABYC ELCI requirement

I am installing a Blue Seas ELCI this weekend. I recommend doing some checks before hand to ensure you have no leakage, otherwise you may be locked out until the issue is resolved. I bought a Megger AC leakage clamp meter because I just installed a LIfepo4/Victron system and I expected my old...

Replacing sight tube with fuel gauge

Good thing I didnt ask for anyones permission. Reasons for my particular modification: 1) sight tubes not readily accessible, especially underway. 2) can now plumb in sender signal to Cerbo GX tank monitor for display on touch 50 or plotter. 3) with signal plumbed into cerbo and the Lte 4g...

Replacing sight tube with fuel gauge

My sight gauges were not very accessible so I added remote tubes and put senders in them. Working great.

Lifepo4 house / lead starting bank interaction?

The new Victron Orion DC2DC can throttle DC amps from 1 to 50 amps in .1 increments and it supposedly 97% efficient.

Making progress on complete Epoch 920ah Lifepo4 and Victron system.

Z1nonlyone...Of course. I already had mine testing on the bench for a few months so it should be a matter of hooking everything back up. I assume you have the Victron 330ah x 3 batteries? When all Victron its a bit more complete of a system. But the Epochs do work well. I am about 85% done...

Ignition key run position positive wire

If you are going to disconnect the buzzer...that is generally a hot wire off the key. Key on > hot to buzzer> grounded at oil pressure switch. You will be disconnecting that wire at the buzzer, you can use it. Just make sure its the hot wire into the buzzer and not out.

    Why a secondary fuel filter?

Its only illogical because you have chosen a 2 micron filter as your first filter element. Many use 30 micron as primary and something smaller, usually an OEM spec, as secondary. In addition every time you change your primary a small amount of debris will get through and you will need your...

Palm Coast Fl Diesel Mechanic Recommend?

What engine? If you go to Facebook and look up Trawler Tom, he is out of St Pete currently but travels the entire East Coast. He is a very talented diesel mechanic. He specializes in Lehmans but works most brands. He does basic troubleshooting and repair to full overhauls.

Making progress on complete Epoch 920ah Lifepo4 and Victron system.

Obviously still much to be done. But it should be a nice upgrade from no inverter at all and 2 group 31 AGM batts for house bank to 920ah lithium and Victron Multiplus II 12/3000/120.

Looking for convenient pump for dewatering bilges other than hand pump

I have been pondering this exact thing for some time. And I want the simplest solution possible. I have an old boat that leaks at the rail stanchions and other places. As a result I get fresh water in the bilge when it rains. it also tends to collect in the stringers at various points. My...

    Perkin 6.354 Stop Button Wiring

On my Perkins the stop solenoid is energized to stop. However its energized via a relay on the Stbd side of the engine. You may have 2 round relays over on that side. Opposite side of the stop solenoid.

Question on enlarging a drill hole

LOL....first time? Anytime you put a rotating bit in a round hole you risk this action. And its always a risk. Cant tell you how many times I have tempted fate, being lazy and "extra careful" only for it grab and wind up with that scenario.
