Still working on the Tung Hwa Senator refurb

Its been some time since any progress has been shown. Not because I am not making progress but because life gets in the way and videos are a PITA..lol. Several hurricanes and a long vacation and other things delayed. But we are back on track. After Hurricane Helene and the subsequent power...

    "Solar Generator" initial impressions.

This is why I spent the money for the new Honda 3200 Gen that is fuel injected. In theory it should be unaffected buy dried up fuel in the fuel bowl. We will see. Maybe in a year ill end up having to change out or clean more expensive fuel injectors and fuel pumps...lol. I have a few other Honda...

    LiTime 12v 230ah LFP $469

The one thing I would recommend is to ensure that whatever battery you buy has bluetooth. Its invaluable for troubleshooting and getting set up. Between Renogy and Litime I would choose Litime personally.

    "Solar Generator" initial impressions.

Very nice. In the begining they were a bit gimmicky. But the one you describe sounds fantastic.

Running an A/C unit on an inverter

One other thing to add. If you get a quality inverter/ charger like the Victron multiplus II 3000kva and also use a small Honda inverter generator hooked up to shore power inlet that runs through the multiplus II....the MP2 is a "pass through" inverter. So if you have even a moderate sized...

Running an A/C unit on an inverter

I have a Victron Multiplus II 3000 watt inverter and 2 Epoch 460AH batteries that will run the Marinaire 16k btu AC unit for around 6-8 hours depending on settings, OAT and cycling. Also for reference I have the new Honda 3200 fuel injected inverter gen that will run and start the same AC unit...

    Victron Shunt settings. Help please.

Peter...if you need a generator, I have a Westinghouse 7500/9000 unit. You are more than welcome to use it. Gas should be available in the next day or two. I also have gas cans as well as a 25 gallon gas caddy.

    LiTime 12v 230ah LFP $469

I have been seeing signs again of another shift down in pricing. The Yacht Riggers in St Pete are at the Annapolis Boat show. They just posted a 25% off all Epoch batteries special. Six weeks ago I bought a Chins (similar to Litime) 48 volt 100ah battery for my electric Zero turn for $ 794. It...

    Victron Shunt settings. Help please.

First...double check Shunt wiring. Is it backwards? Coming off the batt negative terminal? And all grounds only coming off the shunt? [battery neg]----[batt side-SHUNT- load side]---all negatives no other terminals on the batt negative except the shunt as above. Charge settings: * Disable...

    Time for Lithium House

On the 460 Essentials it is not quite as finicky as the 460 Marine and you can use anywhere from 13.9 to 14.2. The Essential does not have "Full Charge Protection" and just has the standard limit protections such as 14.6 pack and 3.65 cell voltage as well as the low voltage and temp protections...

We did ok...one corner of our patio is damaged. Lots of large limbs Boat is just fine. We had a negative surge the entire time. Many of the sailboats sat on the keel. Lots of cleanup and the power is out. But I expect restoring the power here won't take too long. For now I have about 2 or 3...

Getting good gusts. Monitoring the boat via wifi cameras. Surge is still negative in Tarpon Springs.
  13. Barking Sands

    Milton

yes, Tarpon Springs is actually outside the cone now and surge is predicted to be nominal or negative. I really hope this storm weakens before it hits though.

Boat prep is done. Batteries are topped off to 100% via generator today while I was prepping since shore power is still out. This time I secured the fridge so I am just drawing enough for the Wifi/internet, bilge and dry bilge, cameras and just a few other items. That gives me 10 days of...

Perfectly laid out. And it can be even worse when storms slide up this coast from the south along the shore. In my case, having just gone through a 9 foot surge and been fine, I am staying put. I am at Anclote Isles Marina up the anclote River and then tucked into a cove with a very narrow...

    Time for Lithium House

Neither the Epoch Essentials IP54 nor the Li time 460 IP65 are waterproof. Both have a level of "splash resistance". Both cases are likely assembled in the same way and I doubt there is any real world difference between them. The only case in these brands that is claimed to be waterproof (really...

Honda EU3200 fuel injected inverter gen

One good thing about it is it comes with the right outlet so no adapter is needed for a standard Marine 30 amp plug. Currently using it to run shore power to charge the lithium up. We won't have shore power for a few days or more since some of the dock power equipment was submerged. The Little...

    Hurricane surge

This is my plan going forward I think. My boat might be worth $30 to 40K on a good day. Insurance is an agreed upon value with liability. If its lost ill buy another like it. As much as I want a larger, fancier boat, its just too difficult in other aspects and is trending worse. Or maybe when I...

    Hurricane surge

The problem is that many Marinas are of course privately owned and are very old. My marina is owned by an old Greek family in Tarpon Springs. It is showing its age and this family spends very very little on Marina upkeep, let alone improvements. Its saving grace is that it is up a river AND...

    Hurricane surge

It easy to judge after the fact. Post storm we know the strength, exact trajectory, tidal surge level etc. We have tropical storm/hurricanes every year. We tend to critique after the fact very unfairly as perfect boat operators with unlimited time and resources and little regard for real life...

    Hurricane surge

It's definitely slowing. This latest is nearly an hour after the picture above and only gone up a few inches.

    Hurricane surge

I think its close to cresting. Hopefully its just a bit of drywall and basic stuff. Crossing fingers.
