    RPM drop

Did the throttle lever remain in its original pre rpm drop position or did it drop back?

    removing teak deck 1995 GB

Of course it will be fiberglass under the teak. But under that, before a further bottom layer of fiberglass forming the bottom of the sandwich, will be a core of something, be it teak offcuts, ply, or if you are fortunate, foam. You need to check the integrity of the core before replacing the...

Which Way Should I Wire This Breaker?

This comes more from experience with regulators, they often have terminals for both a direct load to an appliance (like a fridge), and for the battery, that sounds similar to your breaker. But,it may be otherwise.

    FL 120 - metric or English ?

13mm is usually interchangeable with 1/2inch. A ring spanner might be best.

    Dealing with "chine slap"

True. Experiences will vary, to some the slap becomes music, to others intolerable, leading to abandoning the fwd cabin. It`s a potentially miserable ownership to assume you`ll get used to it, you may very well not, choose carefully.

Repair westerbeke or replace and with what?

To R & R the generator is the same for repair or replace. Except if it is replaced with something else there will be changes, like exhaust, fuel connections, mounts, wiring, gauges, etc. At 960 hours and engine running well, to me it makes sense, practical and economic, to repair what you have.

    Dealing with "chine slap"

You learned the hard way to recognize "a slapper". There are boats which do, and don`t. It`s evident in the chine design, I had one which did, albeit moderately, and 2(an Island Gypsy and an Integrity) that don`t at all. I`m sure you`ll avoid it in your next boat.

Lofrans Kobra 1000W windlass motor gave up the ghost

How was it performing during the remaining retrieve function? If the motor is still performing well it could be control functions that need work, not motor. Maybe remove and send it to a Lofrans repair agent, I expect after inspection they`ll soon tell you if it needs a new one.

    Power for ER blowers

If the engine(s) are running when the blowers are, and voltage drops to 11 the alternators do not provide the amps being consumed. It should be a simple pass through. Or is this a prestart safety procedure for gas engines? If so a brief period of associated voltage drop might be ok and to be...

    Cruising for Disabled Boaters

Seeking advice is good, don`t worry about thread location. I had peripheral neuropathy in the lower legs briefly, due to a rare antibiotic reaction. I was quickly at the neurologists,(no ankle or knee jerks)narrowly escaping hospitalization in case it was the start of Gillian Barre. A disturbing...

Who makes these double hulled kayaks?

There are sit on type kayaks sold as fishing kayaks which are wider, more stable, but still single hull. My partner chose one, it`s not noticeably slower or any less maneuverable. BTW Maritimo CEO Tom Barry Cotter "resigned" "because "the shareholders wanted to proceed in a different direction"...

But consider the dental consequences of the 5c candy bars. New heat exchanger for the 7KW Onan cost just short of 2K AUD. Ouch.

    Ford Lehman 120 seized piston

I had Lehmans in a previous boat. They silt up, impeding coolant movement, around no.6 especially but there could be other causes. I had mine flushed when temps rose. I recall other stories of this issue on TF but not of a fix in situ. My recollection is the problem ended up more extensive. But...

    Music favs

This is Roberta Flack`s weirdly named "Uh Uh Ooh Ooh Look Out (Here it Comes)" Not so weird, it`s the tale of a dumping phone call. Well sung, superbly backed by some good people, and tuneful too. I saw this comment about the personnel on the track;" In this gem plays no more and no less than...

    Glue for Marelon?

Unfortunately photo does not depict crack. Suggest you research JB Weld 2 part epoxy, I used it to repair a plastic part on an outboard fuel system. Works for most plastics, and it`s charcoal in color. You may need light clamping while it sets.

    Decks

There are multiple core materials. My previous 1981 Island Gypsy, in many ways a GB clone, had (original) foam cored decks. You`ll be lucky if yours are, but it`s not likely.

AC vs portable dehumidifier when leaving boat in Southern Florida

My home dehumidifier sized for a large room is effective but does raise room temperature. In our climate we don`t need one on the boat.

    Cockpit Winches

Cockpit winches are a great idea for your locking needs. The lack of locks here suggests Maritimo may not have had them in mind for design purposes, check the strength of the mounting area and space to for a backing plate. I suggest sending Maritimo an email to ask their advice on location etc.

    Leaking hatch

If water is entering between the acrylic glass and the frame, it should be possible to seal the gap between the two without removing the glass. A hatch leak which when I bought my boat had destroyed a sliding timber "blind" under it, all I had to do was reseal between glass and frame ( and...

    Survey Issues

For Negligence to be actionable there needs to be loss or damage. Your loss as observed above is minimal. Had the survey been performed for a buyer it would have been very different. Apparently the fault he didn`t find means the boat was valueless even before survey, except I guess for used...
