    Interesting boats

Of doubtful interest unless in Australia or NZ, this Masters 51 Yachtfisher with revamped(non traditional) interior is impressive. Comes with ER pics too.I`m assuming the designer is Clem Masters, whose designs were were highly regarded for sea keeping abilities. The 34 I one owned started life...

    Vale Simi 60

Saw this advert for Simi`s boat, after a price reduction. I think she`s had a fresh coat of paint, a great boat for someone. https://www.boatsonline.com.au/boats-for-sale/used/power-boats/millkraft-classic-timber-cruiser/305390

My batteries went flat over the winter! Why?

That you did the same in 2020-2021, successfully, presumably with inferior batteries, doesn`t seem well explored. Were there any possible added/changed loads this time? Were there any known loads last time? Something added directly on the batteries not covered by the main switch? Whatever the...

Pre-Purchase Survey Costs for Dry Storage

Can`t you pay your half of $650 and leave it in the water until you decide? If you reject it you share another $650 back to storage. But if you buy it there`s no final $650 from dry storage back to water. Of course you need to resolve marina fees pending accept/reject.

    Buying boat with Volvo TMD40A's

If it was an otherwise lovely boat with questionable engines which you planned to keep long term, knowing you had to get the engines right, it might be reasonable to proceed. But with those engines, in that condition with plenty of potential for trouble, repairs, and down time, and a 3 year...

PNW to Mexico, Panama Canal, and Florida, on our way at last!

Discussion about bar crossing is important, but I was impelled to discover the meaning of pupusa: "A pupusa is a thick griddle cake or flatbread from El Salvador and Honduras made with cornmeal or rice flour, similar to the Colombian and Venezuelan arepa. In El Salvador, it has been declared...

    Interesting boats

The Seahorse 52 is fiberglass. KitL, RTF`s first rule of boat advert rejection was/is no ER pics, it`s a fair one. With lots of pluses, maybe it`s oversight, not concealment, but...just as long as you don`t travel from Sydney to FNQ to see the bad news, as we once did. Well remembered on the...

    Interesting boats

KitL, I was thinking of you when I posted it. An old sales practice is provide only enough info to generate interest and inquiry. It`s not a new boat and has some hours on it, it must function to some extent. Mind you there was a thread about excessive vibration in one, but I think it had a...

Recommendation for buyer's broker in the Southeast

Surely the "buyers broker" has an absolute duty to tell his principal(the buyer) all he learns about the boat and the transaction. The Sellers broker ought realize that. Still seems weird the seller, via his broker, pays the buyers broker. That leaves a nasty taste in the mouth( the late Barry...

We suspect my high protein diet keeps clogging toilet - HELP

It can`t matter if it`s kept out of the head. Sounds like it`s quantity rather than quality that`s the problem.

Recommendations for motoryacht - 12-13 passengers

A small used cruise ship might work. Holland America had smaller ones.

We suspect my high protein diet keeps clogging toilet - HELP

There was a recent thread about NOT putting TP into the toilet. Views varied from "Ugh" to "works well". TP goes in a plastic liner bag in a lidded container kept beside the toilet, bag goes in the trash. Not that confronting, you only use one side of the TP. Surprisingly, unpleasant odor is not...

    On Air Conditioning...

Portable units are attractive especially on price, but the compressor is in the room with you. They can be very noisy, check noise ratings and choose carefully.

    Humor

Liked Christchurch, especially pre earthquake. Enjoyed visiting Lyttleton just south ("Lyttiltun") particularly a memorable trip on a coal fired steam tug run by a preservation society.

    Humor

Probably only of interest to Aussies and New Zealanders, celebrating the variance in vowel pronunciation either side of the Tasman Sea (aka "The Ditch" (or Dutch)which lies between the 2 countries.I puzzled over some "translations" but, "viva la difference". For example "Sucks Peck"=" six pack"...

    1997 Mainship 350 details

Just noticed this:https://www.boatsonline.com.au/boats-for-sale/used/power-boats/mainship-340-trawler/308194 Twin 4cyl Yanmars, pics suggest there`s space between the engines. This broker thoroughly prepares boats for sale (at sellers expense), good presentation should not deter from careful...

    1997 Mainship 350 details

I looked seriously at a 2012(?) Mainship 395 a few years back. Single 6cyl Yanmar, Kohler genset. ER a crawlspace, the genset had to be approached from either side for servicing. I liked the boat,a lot, regrettably passed due to freshwater capacity of about 150/160L with a Vacuflush freshwater...

What is the best dog life jacket?

And there`s the annual inflatable service check to ensure the condition of the inflation capsule. An Aussie kelpie (or maybe even a border collie) muster dog might have the smarts to do it but most won`t. A non starter I suspect.

    PT35 fuel tank leaking

More "last resort" than "best idea", repairing the hull to standard is the issue.

    Outboard powered

Not pretty, but practical. Here in Sydney`s Broken Bay/Hawkesbury region there are several charter/hire boats organizations usually renting outboard powered houseboats, renting eg. a Mariner 34s, with twin outboards replacing the inboards. Presumably it`s way cheaper than replacing the diesels...

    Boats you would buy again.

I think I already did. Replaced an IG36 owned for 10 years with an Integrity 386, a direct but vastly improved descendant based on the same moulds. The extra 2ft 6" (36>386)comes from incorporating the swimstep into the hull, the revamp of the interior and the handling were big improvements. The...

    GB dash indicator panel bulbs

I bought tiny replacement globes like those for the dash lights of my IG36, from an old long established auto electrician. They came from a cardboard display card which looked anything but fresh stock, I grabbed 6. An old established auto electric might be a good source. From memory mine just...
