Yes assuming an internally regulated alternator. If externally regulated alternator the it would be the regulator connected to the bus.

120V step up to 240V needed

Slow down folks. You are headed in the wrong direction. Your boat uses 50a 125/250v system. This means means you have two 125v legs out of phase with each other. Your appliances pick up both legs to get 240v. What you are looking at is a device that is designed to convert a single 125v leg...

    Underwater lights for swim platform

I have under water lights on my current boat and I had them on my previous boat. I think they are over rated. More maintenance, another corrosion issue point and another place for barnacles.

    Changing Battery Size? 4x L16 to 8x GC2?

If you asked this question 3 years ago I would have said stick with the LA L-16 as the best bang for the buck. Now three years latter and the market place has flipped. The best bang for the buck is now LiFePo4 batteries. If you feel you need AGM’s then definitely look at cost savings of...

    Changing Battery Size? 4x L16 to 8x GC2?

This is a good question. With the cost difference between AGM and LiFePo4 you could cover the conversation cost while loosing hundreds of pounds and gain more battery capacity.

Walkie Talkie with Headsets Hands Free

For Sena sph10 owners. Yes you can replace the battery. It is not easy, requires a T-8 and a very small pry tool most can make due with a jewelers screw driver. You must remove the ear covers and then rotate the ear cover bracket to gain access to the T-8 screws. I drug out my old Sena set...

    Fresh water pump lifespan

Yes, with a variable speed pump it stops the pump from doing the very slow speeds which are the hardest on the pump. While they all advertise no accumulator necessary with the variable speed pumps they all recommend using an accumulator for best life and performance.

    Freezer Power Use Issue

I found this You can contact Frostline Marine Refrigeration at frostlinemarine.com or call 360-303-4912 Apparently, the technician wasn’t ready to retire and started up his own service buisness. I would bet he is the best source for any technical help. I haven’t talked to my NL friends for a...

    Freezer Power Use Issue

Unfortunately Sea Freeze closed up shop during COVID. I have a 30 year old Sea Freeze DC freezer that I am Very fond of. I believe that all these freezers are actually DC powered at the Compressor. I would do a little research to see if you could avoid the DC to AC to DC issue. I wish I had...

    Knowing a "hot" marina

In practice you are correct. Technically, this is not correct. While an isolation transformer masks the issue and allows you to function in the new ELCI environment you still have something that is wrong. In the case where a neutral and a ground are swapped you have AC flowing through the...

    Knowing a "hot" marina

I agree with Fleming. In fact the marina was hot if you were a swimmer and it would have been deadly hot if it was a fresh water marina. The marina only supplies AC current so they tested for AC, found an issue and had it corrected. They then told the complainer that the marina is no...
