    Fire Extinguisher question for 38'

About the last paragraph of your pdf says a non-refillable, ie, BI is good up to 12 years if not damaged & gauge shows good pressure. Thanks so much.

    Fire Extinguisher question for 38'

Sounds like a plan. The ones I was going to buy are throw away after use. So do I need to replace the non-refillable each year if not inspected?

    Fire Extinguisher question for 38'

What I don't understand is if you have the USCG approved required marine type extinguishers, what's to sign off on it. Don't they come with a pull-pin & a gauge with the needle in the green zone when they're good?

    Fire Extinguisher question for 38'

I recently bought a used 38' cabin cruiser with about 5 larger than normal fire extinguishers on board with pins in & gauges in green area. The surveyor wrote up about them needing to be signed off/ tested every year according to some NFPA or another agency code. I read many articles on West...

Thanks. I think mannual showed to use a pipe cleaner. Never would have thought of that little passage being a problem.

Error in Westerbeke 7.6 BDT Manual?

Was reading Operators Manual about draining & filling coolant. This is from manual. "Refilling the Coolant After replacing the engine block drain plug, close the heat exchanger's coolant petcock. Then run the engine at idle and slowly pour clean, premixed coolant into the manifold. Monitor the...

Where to find discounted Westerbeke parts?

Thank you. Sure makes sense. I think I saw a sticker on the top of my 2005, 7.6 BDT & it looked like the Mitsubishi logo.

Where to find discounted Westerbeke parts?

Thank you Ski. I'm very surprised there is no air filter. I wonder if silencer box is oiled foam type of filter. I'll take it apart to see.

Thank you for drum & pump info. Now I can see & learn more from these examples.

    Stuck at Dock-fuel filter problem?

Thank you. I did see the fuel polisher where the gear pump sucked dirty fuel through a screen filter, through pump, & then 10 micron filter back to tank.

4 gals per hour is great.

    Stuck at Dock-fuel filter problem?

I was thinking exactly that. Both 150 gal tanks are 3/4 full so that's over 100 gals to pump somewhere. The good things is it's all fresh fuel. I don't know what to come up with to store pumped fuel in. Thanks, Happy 4th of July.

    Stuck at Dock-fuel filter problem?

Thank you sunchaser. I've been thinking that for a while. The crazy thing is at West Marine they want about $15-16.00 for the 500 series element. I saw the Racor 1000 series elements next to those for only $19.95. The 1000 series looks like they have 4 time the area for $4.00 more. I bought my...

    Stuck at Dock-fuel filter problem?

Boat is finally home. Got boat home last Thursday. Thanks to semi-planing with me & navigating we finished trip with many filter changes. I'm not sure if all were necessary because of how clean some looked. I agree with others that there may be some kind of "floater" in the tank. Too many times...

    Stuck at Dock-fuel filter problem?

Thanks dhays. It just gets more frustrating. I had a retired captain that agreed to make the trip with me in about 10 days from now. He texted this morning saying that now his health won't allow him the trip. I must keep plugging away. Take care & have a great weekend.
