    Boat Economics

LOL.... insurance is high on everything in Florida and not just because of storms. I used to live in South Beach and if it wasn't chained down, someone would steal it. :nonono:

Best tablet to Photoshop boat designs?

I wish that I could, Peter, but I use Photoshop exclusively and have no knowledge of other software that you could use. Copy and pasting features on a boat is going to be difficult at best because not only does everything have to be sized accordingly but camera angle/boat view will vary and I...

    Geography Question

I keep seeing references to the Bahamas being bathed by the warm waters of the Caribbean. If that's true, wouldn't southern Florida also be in the Caribbean? I guess it doesn't really matter because, it is what it is, but I'm kind of curious.

Best tablet to Photoshop boat designs?

Pretty much any software that is capable of doing what you're speaking of will take a lot of time to master. I've been using Photoshop for about 18 years and I and I still consider myself a novice at it and I use it every day. I think some sort of design software would work better for you.

The boat is listed here. Endeavour boats for sale - YachtWorld It's the 9th one down in the far left hand column. Endeavour 37 A-PLAN (1) I'm not ready to buy it because I have a house to sell but I'm trying to learn how to tell if a boat is being offered at a fair price. Should I sell my...

    Bayliner Ciera 3055

Is this boat a candidate as a live-aboard for a single guy? It's hard to tell by the photos because wide angle lenses can make tiny spaces look huge. I don't see any with diesels so are they more for sport (go fast gas guzzler) or cruising? Also, I saw one listed as 36' and one as 31'. Is...

    Boat Economics

The boat is in Delray Beach, FL. and is for sale by owner. It was initially listed last August. I'll have to learn boat values. I saw 2 boats earlier today online for sale by owner that were the same model, model year, length, engine, etc. and the price difference in the 2 was about $60k...

Cool. The transmission part is what really concerns me. I could refurbish an engine but have never been inside of a transmission. I just spent $2300 having the tranny in a jeep grand cherokee rebuilt so I could only imagine the cost involved in rebuilding a marine tranny.

This is what I like to hear, Gordon. A lot of people seem to be doing it on $1k or less per month. I'm willing to invest about $50k into this and what I don't spend on the boat will be put back for unforeseen expenses (emergency fund). If I can find a decent boat in the $20k to $30k range...

I have zero experience and am looking for something that I can live on full time. You bring up a good point about somebody unable to use or enjoy the boat anymore and has a good maintenance record. That's the kind I would look for anyway, whether it be a boat, truck or whatever. I'm looking...

Is a boat that's been on the market since last August likely overpriced for this economy?

A quick look at them shows they look like they fit my price point. Thanks for the info. I'll look at them more in depth.

Regarding your post above about sending engine oil out for inspection, wouldn't a magnet do the same thing? I'm guessing you'd be looking for coolant/water in the oil (milky oil) or metal shavings. Is it possible to run on one engine? I'm guessing it is and would be great in the case of one...

Port of the Islands Marina, Florida

I stopped in Everglades City on a trip back from Marco Island to South Beach. It was quaint. BTW... I have models who pay me to photograph them nude.

Thanks. I've been looking closely at the Bayliners and I've noticed that their boats below 32' are gas engines and not diesel. Is there a reason for that? Is it safe to assume that a boat with a single diesel will need less fuel to move the boat than a twin or is there a trade off in one...

I was thinking the same thing, Diesel Duck. Being a photographer by trade, I know the importance of showing quality photos to sell anything. That's all that people have to rely on in order to proceed in finding out more about the item (boat). It's almost as bad as someone trying to sell a...

This is really going to be helpful, Art. Part of the problem I'm finding when searching for boats is having grown up in the midwest, I don't know what makes of boats to search for that fit my needs. I've been looking at Gulfstars and Bayliners and like what I've seen. There are several of...
