Grand Banks calls it a shell clamp part #20903-002. it's a clamshell that glues onto (doesn't screw on) the outside hull to cover an intake port. we haven't been able to find one anywhere & they're prohibitively expensive to order from...

Manatee "Velvet" is back up for sale

I hear the 36' Kadey Krogen Manatee "Velvet" is back up for sale. This time "for sale by owner." Use of rubber line snubbber on anchor bridle?

"after being on their website,it appears the anchor snubber is designed for chain, and the line snubber is designed for line" Yes, it appears that way for the Shockles line - but why? Is it a matter of thickness?, shock absorbancy?, durability? Staying away from Shockles, is there any reason I...

Use of rubber line snubbber on anchor bridle?

There's the problem, I don't have a Sampson's Post. I have to attach the two bridle ends to bow cleats. So I would be attaching 2 Shockles each time - awkward.

Use of rubber line snubbber on anchor bridle?

The problem with shockles is that I'd have to install them (2 of them) every time I deploy the bridle. I was hoping to build the rubber snubbers into the bridle so they are set automatically when I deploy the bridle. Why is the shockles snubber described as an anchor snubber and the black...

Use of rubber line snubbber on anchor bridle?

I have an all chain rode and an old bridle that I use as a snubber. I want to build a new bridle, using new 1/2 inch, 3 strand nylon. I'm thinking of building a rubber line snubber into each side of the bridle (such as Attwood, Whitecap, Falcon, or Dockedge) to add to the shock absorbancy of...

screw pin vs bolt type schackles

Thank you to those of you who answered my screw pin vs bolt type shackle question. I appreciate your responses. It's amazing how this simple question morphed into a discussion on anchor types & rope vs chain???

screw pin vs bolt type schackles

I've been doing a lot of reading and research. We're going to go with a Manson Supreme and keep the straightened out Danforth as our second anchor. I hear the Rocnas are now made in China of inferior metals. If you can find an original one (pre-China) they're great - from what I've read.

screw pin vs bolt type schackles

Kind of irrelevant but, we have a 40 pound Danforth type anchor (I just bent the shaft on it) on a rusted old 135 foot chain which is bolted into the chain locker. It has a rusted old shackle (screw pin, I think) and a rusted old swivel, It's probably equipment that was original to the 1992...

screw pin vs bolt type schackles

Our ground tackle is woefully inadequate so I'm doing research to upgrade it. The shackle currently on it is a screw pin but I see anchor shackles come in screw pin and bolt type. Are there advantages of one over the other for an anchor system? If you were starting fresh, which would you choose...
