    Gas Tank Help

Oh and I never thought of repairing the tank as it’s aluminum and if pitting in one place it’s probably pitting somewhere else. I think there was a leak around the gas cap that caused the pitting to occur because there is no bonding for the tanks.

    Gas Tank Help

Thanks Dave got your pics. So scoring an I-Beam was a major task. You put a lot of work into your apparatus and it worked. That gives me some ideas. I had thought of using thick walled pipes configured in a pyramid inside the salon. I only have about 850 lbs to lift but the key is where you took...

    Gas Tank Help

I know the tank leaks because I talked to the service guy that has worked on the boat for the past ten years and he gave me the rundown on what he did to combine the two engines to the starboard tank. Thanks for your interest

    Gas Tank Help

Hey Dave, Yes I agree the engine would be simple to pull if I can get a rig setup to do it and support the rig and engine weight... Yes thank you I would like to see your pics of the rig you used and how you supported it... If I could just get the engine up to the salon level I could get the...

    Gas Tank Help

The issue with removing the engines is the same. To get the engines out you have to disassemble them and carry out in pieces , I take, heads, then block... Not Fun or cheep. Cutting the tanks up is my best bet. One had been empty for at least three years so it will need to be purged for awhile...

    Fuel Tank Replacement

I have tanks that need to be replaced. How did you remove your old ones? I has gas engines so mine will prove difficult and I don’t have much space to get the old tanks out. They may have to be cut out of the sides. I like the idea of using 4 tanks to replace one!

    Gas Tank Help

They are gas, tanks are mounted next to both engines on the outer sides below the gunnels. I figure they will have to be cut out of the side of the ship. It could get ugly

    Gas Tank Help

How difficult is it to cut the gas tank out of a boat ? I have a port tank that had a leak when purchased and I fear the starboard tank isn’t far behind. They are both aluminum and in a trapezoid shape 150 gallon. Has anyone done this before ?

Removing a Halon FE for Inspection

Just a thought, I’m not trying to say anyone here is wrong about Halon. This is from an article on Halon “Irritation can even occur without direct contact. High concentrations of halon can create an oxygen-deficient environment. This can cause people to suffocate. Large amounts of halon gas that...

Removing a Halon FE for Inspection

So I stand corrected... Thanks Larry, I always thought it removes the oxygen as that is what the fire specialist at the flight simulation company I worked for had once said

Removing a Halon FE for Inspection

One other note is Halon removes or displaces all oxygen in the area, you could die if she goes off get out of there !

Removing a Halon FE for Inspection

Halon Your halon bottle should have a lockout pin. If you don’t have one in it then use a paper lip to keep the mechanical from firing . I have the same 10 lb bottle on my 40’ Mainship and could not find anyone in Texas that would service it so I had to buy a new bottle filled with Hailatron (...

    Zantrex Batt Charger issue

Probably with the charger on it’s side the heat is not rising out of the unit through the vents. Get a brushless fan so no arching occurs

    Zantrex Batt Charger issue

Yeah there are no heat sensors I the batts... I’m going to replace it with a Dual Pro charger 3-15 amp outputs. I researched the Xantrex and it seems many people have had issues with them quoting on them after only one year of operation. Thanks for your input

    Zantrex Batt Charger issue

I have a 40 ft Mainship with 3 Battery Banks and noticed last week that the Xantrex Battery charger Mode showed charging but there was no voltage coming out to any battery. The display didn't show any load current either. The panel has power to it and power was reset many times with the same...
