    Considering going solar

Hi there, greetings from Argentina! I have a bird-of-pray decoy (owl) made of plastic I put near to the panels while moored. This scares the s... t out of all the seagulls that used to gather on them. Amazing bio.weapon you can get on ebay for some 15 bucks!

    GPS Slow sat acquisition

Thanks! You know, it seems to me that that may be the issue: when I sail known waters I do not use the gps and sometimes there is a long interval between "on" periods. In such opportunities it takes way longer to find position. So the empty batt on motherboard is plausible to me

    GPS Slow sat acquisition

To add some info: I contacted the manufacturer telling about the problem. Also asking which antenna was best (if). So far no reply. Regards!

    GPS Slow sat acquisition

Hi, I own a Lowrance Elite 7 Chartplotter, which is installed at the helm of my steel trawler. I have noticed that there are days in which it takes a long time until the gps has determined its position. Some days the cursor starts blinking and keeps like that for hours. Next to the Lowrance I...

    Shipyard fees

Hi Pete! you are a lucky man! The deal you have is really great.:thumb: Next time I lift my boat, will come to your marina:)

    Shipyard fees

Despite the money I will be paying to the yard, my boat will get back into the water with a long list of things to be done in the water.

    Shipyard fees

Hi, I do not expect the same deal you were lucky to get.... but perhaps a reduction in some hidden costs (Actually not hidden, but overlooked) that help inflating the bill.

    Shipyard fees

My boat is 56 ft long, weights 30 Tons. Although not a superyacht, it is bigger than small yards can lift, therefore limiting the number of places where I can get it on the hard. About the charges, I did not mention them because costs in foreign currencies, when translated int U$ may turn out as...

    Shipyard fees

Hi, sorry for the late reply! As I see, the only difference in my yard is that they do not have a monthly fee (or they do, but do not offer to all customers unless beforehand negotiated). Electricity is also an issue, because their fee is quite reasonable for a couple of days, but completely...

    Shipyard fees

Hi there, my boat is currently on the hard ready to be put back into the water. Went to the Admin to pay.... and bill was like:banghead: Nothing that I did not knew was charged, but lousy weather made me loose a lot of precious time. The yard charges a fixed daily fee rain or shine. Also a...

    Members search by country?

Hi there, I just went to the Trawler Forum members list and tried to figure out if I could make a search by country... but could not find out how to do it. Is this option available? Cheers!

    Mayday call

It seems to me ut us sort of a voltage regulator I was trying to find out (or expecting someone knew) what other engines shared this part! As a Volvo spare it costs 700 u$ ... on a truck it certainly would cost 20 bucks, as you say!

    Mayday call

We called all the companies you passed me the links of, as well as Volvo Sweden. Part does not exist. We also made a couple of postings on Volvo's Facebook page and got an immediate ("canned") reply: contact a dealership! after some more pressuer on social media, they called us...

Hi mate! The brand of the engine we look the part for is Volvo (I may be wrong, but heard these engines were actually made by Perkins)... but well, who made it is irrelevant. Thank you!

    Mayday call

It's basically a fancy truck engine.... pretty sure that the part we are looking for is a standard part on 10 different commercial Perkins motors

Hi There! mi brother has had his boat on the hard for the last 8 weeks because he cannot get a spare part for one of his in/out Volvo engines. He is looking for part number 874184 for a 260 HP turbodiesel Volvo Penta KAD 44. As I understand it is just a silly voltage regulator that seems to...

Hi! My boat is a Camaron (word that means "shrimp") about 50 were built between 1980 and 2000 in the northern suburbs of Buenos Aires.
