    Interesting boats

I'd have to have to order a specially designed coffee cup for this boat. Not to mention the head, for which I might have continuous use.

TF Gathering in SE Florida 2018

Already sounds like another "interesting" TF Rendezvous (as in the Chinese curse of may you live in interesting times). If the left coast partial brains are threatening to attend, Emily and I may have to make the drive over from Longboat. We'll contribute her whole brain+ to my quarter brain-...

    Gen Set not producing

When our Westerbeke 5.0 didn't generate voltage, and it's happened three time in the eight years we've had the boat, it was always due to a bad capacitor. In the 5.0 there are two of them which, of course, are buried in the innards of the generator.

    How Was Your Father's Day

Finished cradle boat for my daughter on father's day, who is producing the crew in September. Her first and my first grandchild. Son, who helped financially with the project, came for dinner. Sent daughter pics of boat and mock up of plaque for cradle. Daughter called crying after seeing plaque...

    Tangle in props

Got tired of fouled props and the anxiety of navigating through lobster pot minefields in adverse conditions. Me and the better half are also getting too old to dive in cold waters to attempt to free the props. Put this on a couple of years ago and haven't (knock on fiberglass) fouled a prop...

    America's Cup 2017

Some Brit press guy wagged about a lost protest by the British in a 1934 Cup race of Endeavour vs Rainbow (the British interpretation of the rule in question differed from the American one) that "Britannia rules the waves but America waives the rules".

    Excecutor of an estate

As a retired Estate attorney (among other hats) I'm so happy I am retired and don't have to deal with this stuff anymore. FWIW, at least in Maine, you can decline to accept appointment as Executor and save yourself a lot of grief unless you are perfectly comfortable accepting the position.

    Harlem River

Slight hijack. Sorry. I rowed competitively on the Harlem (and East River and Hudson) while at Columbia in the mid 1960s. The water and the river banks were disgusting. When launching the boats from the semi-submerging floats at the boathouse near Spuyten Duyvil human waste would wash over our...

Just curious... what instrument you play???

Trying to relearn finger picking acoustic guitar (think folk scene 1960's) after 50 years away from it. Seriously suspect that I'll croak way before I become even a bit competent.

    Honey Badger headed North

A friend just bought this old woody and is headed to Maine with it. He owns a boat yard in Brooklin, ME, that specializes in construction and maintenance of wood boats, so he has the means to maintain her properly. Boat just left Port St. Lucie. If any TF'rs run across her and can offer...

What identification do I need on my zodiac?

Some put "T/T Your Mother Ship Name" on the dinghy. But some say that if your dinghy is tied up at shore, that tells a potential thief that maybe no one is aboard the mother ship.

What identification do I need on my zodiac?

In Maine, if the dinghy has an engine, it needs to have a State boat registration, registration numbers on the bow and annual excise tax sticker. I'm guessing that probably holds true in most, if not all, States.

"Roll Call" For Gourmet Cruisers and Island Gypsies

If it's a ZF Hurst IRM 220 as in our boat, it's just 30 weight oil. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwUQn8nzBtpLRG9EOEhZcGdKMTQ With the caveat that ours only takes a little less than 3 qts vs the 4.2 called for in the above link.
