    Starboard swim platform

Had a Starboard swim platform like the OP shows on our boat when we bought it. It had no structural rigidity and sagged between the platform supports. The sags got worse over time. Replaced it with one I built out of Plasteak and have been very happy with it. I did, on the company's advice, add...

    Stained Headliner

Someone on this forum talked about this product. My headliners are getting a bit yellowed so I might try it in a couple of years from now. However, if some TF member would like to be the guinea pig in the meantime, please feel free to post your results. (I feel an RT video coming soon on guinea...

Ships station license and operator permit

Got that license and permit for a planned incursion into Canada this year. Had the same questions, but I got them just the same on the better safe than sorry principle after reading the regs. Didn't make a large dent in the boat wallet relative to other expenses. From what I could gather, from a...

Can I leave my teak natural?

Should you wish to retain the option of keeping the original wood, I recall many past posts that opined that you should first varnish or otherwise seal any raw wood areas you wish to paint over, otherwise you will never get the paint pigment out of the wood grain should you later wish to bring...

    Interesting boats

Esthetics in boat design is extremely personal. I know what I like and it may not be what the next person likes. Like art. My tastes run to what I consider to be the pleasing lines of the traditional. Build or buy what you like, especially if you can afford to do so and not worry about being...

    Need a new Helm Chair

About 4 years out in the weather, although covered when not in use, and it's holding up great. Ours I'd upholstered in white ultraleather and it cleans up easily with recommended 409 cleaner.

    Need a new Helm Chair

Been quite happy with a Flexsteel helm chair we have on our fly bridge. Very comfy and very adjustable. Paired it with a strong pedestal and sliding spider. Expensive but not Stidd prices. http://http://www.glastop.com/marine-furniture-products.asp?id=66

    TF Southeast Florida Gathering?

A definite maybe from me. And my Admiral this year as well. But dependent upon finding lodging relatively nearby that will allow our Lab "Bos'n" to stay with us. Anyone know of a dog friendly motel in the area? Alternatively, I suppose we could put him in a kennel, a/k/a the "slammer", for a...

Except that the paint peels off of them. Redid the outside three years ago with proper prep, aluminum primer and compatible top coats and then 3M 4000 caulk. They are holding up well with no leaks (they didn't leak before but someone had caulked them with silicone  that had mildewed...

What did I do to my generator?

Capacitors? If one or both of the capacitors go belly up, get same symptoms. One or both of mine die every couple of years and have to be replaced. Then all is well again.
