    Radar wiring

I think thats the case if the MFD loses power it will probably all need to be reset from the ground up. Only time i shut most breakers off is when boat is in storage.

    Radar wiring

Ok so I wanted to test this in real world conditions. The way I would normal do things. I turned off the MFD as i would at the end of the trip. Power stayed supplied to it and the radar. Left it over night. Turned the MFD on again in the morning. Selected radar from the screen. Message appears...

    Radar wiring

Got the radar installed today. Connecting to the MFD was pretty easy. Seems to power down and start up again without issue. I did not install a switch just power, ground and of course circuit protection. Thanks for all the assistance.

    Radar wiring

Ok so now im confused....... the MFD turns the radar on and off so i dont need a switch but if i turn the MFD off it wont reconnect to the radar unless i switch the radar off and on again? Doesnt make much sense to me.

    Radar wiring

I have a radar that was on the boat when we bought it but the wiring is not connected. Going to run all new wiring. I have looked at the manual wiring diagram. It looks simple enough. Power and ground. But it does not show a switch in the diagram. I would assume a switch should be used...

    Obsolete or still Useable?

Thank you Everyone! I think i have a better understanding of what i have, what i need and where to get it. Looks like there is a dealer right here beside my anchorage that supports the Navionics cards.

    Obsolete or still Useable?

Are Navionics the only chart option? Currently using navionics on my tablet and overall happy with it but curious if other options are available Thanks

    Obsolete or still Useable?

It never functioned for me but the wires to the radar had no power. It may work, fingers crossed. No card in either unit for charts. Thats my main goal at the moment. Finding a chart card.

    Obsolete or still Useable?

Still trying to determine which model it is nothing written on the device but i think its an A series. When i check online it says No update availble. I did find these two manuals. Pics attached.

    Obsolete or still Useable?

I have two Raymarine chartplotters and a radar dome that came with our boat. The chartplotters turn on and show our location but only contain the basemap. Which is useless. Radar has never functioned. Plotter just says something like "radar not found" I will post a picture of the plotter screen...

    Remove mast support?

I ended up cutting the bolts flush and tapping them down below the deck. Put in a few wood plugs and recaulked the area. Sanded the area. Looks pretty good considering the mess that was originally there.

    How Bad is This?

Well i decided to just cut the bent portion off. Ground it down nice and smooth. I figured the portion that was curled was not acting as a rudder surface anyways. I have not removed any useable surface area but hopefully did remove any possible drag or other steering issues. We will see if...

    Remove mast support?

I would have to drop the ceiling to acess the studs from the bottom. Not worth the hassle to me. I have to recaulk the teak anyways so i will just fill in the holes etc at the same time.

    Remove mast support?

So what i ended up doing was using a chisel i split the block in line with the studs. Then using the chisel lifted the block a little and used a crow bar to pry the block free. Next step grind the studs flush and seal it all up.

    Remove mast support?

Thats the big issue. There is no fasteners visable from the top. The mast was original from the manufacturer and it probably is fastened from the inside. :(

    Remove mast support?

Its smack dab in the middle of the upper deck. Big trip hazard. I guess i will try to grind down the bolts and hack the wood apart.

    Remove mast support?

Removed the mast from our PT-38 but not sure how the base it was mounted to should be removed. Any ideas?
