    Chartering a 45' Northwest Trawler

I have set up my 45' Northwest for chartering. My charters will range from 1/2 day and full day cruises, to full day fishing trips and 3-5 day Bahama trips. I want to keep it affordable and I'm trying to figure out what rates to charge, my thoughts were to charge $450 for 1/2 day and $800 for...

House Batteries not charging 2002 Camano Troll

Hopefully you got it fixed by now. if not I had a similar problem and it ended up being a bad relay for the charger. Apparently the relay was too weak to handle the AGM batteries on our vessel. Capt Mike

    Ice Makers

I would like some input on what type of ice maker you guys recommend. I'll be using the ice mainly for fishing. It seems like there are many different types, like white ice, clear ice and saltwater systems. I'll probably need 25-40lbs of ice per day. Your suggestions are appreciated. Thanks...

    Bottom Painting

Anyone have any experience using Copper Coat? My Trawler is docked in South Florida and Copper Coat sounds like it might be cost effective, if I plan on keeping my vessel for 5-10yrs. I was also wondering if I used this product would I still need to have a monthly bottom cleaning. Thanks Tail...

    Experience going to Cuba?

I am thinking of taking a cruise to Cuba either this summer or next summer on my 45' NW Trawler. Our plan would be to depart from Palm Beach, FL head to Key West and then cross over to Cuba. I heard Hemingway Marina is the place to stay in Cuba. Please let me know if any of you cruisers out...

I'm hoping to get some good advice from all of you out there about alarm systems for my 45' trawler and the do's and don'ts of leaving your vessel unattended at anchor. Let me briefly explain what I'm asking advice on. We would love to be able to anchor off some shallow water fishing areas and...

    Cetane booster

Actually it was at the Palm Beach Boat show today. I believe he was a dealer for Cummins and other diesel manufacturers. I guess I'm a bit gullible.

    Cetane booster

Hi George. I was at the Palm Beach Boat show today and a dealer for Cummins and other diesel manufacturers told me this. He did come across like a know it all and I should have been more skeptical. Not knowing much about diesel fuel I guess I was pretty gullible.

    Cetane booster

I have a Cummins QSL9 engine and I was recently told the diesel fuel they're selling us in Florida is really substandard. They recommended that I should always be adding a Cetane booster to the diesel fuel. I checked the Cummins specs. and they said the minimum Cetane # used should not be lower...

    Anchoring Fiasco off the Keys

I found out it does have a manual mode but since the gears were stripped, it wouldn't work in either mode. Apparently I was unaware that the windlass was put in manual mode when I started hoisting the anchor electronically. They told it the windlass I have was one of the best they made, so I...
