    Okeechobee Waterway

It looks like we'll be crossing lake Okeechobee towards the middle or end if September. We're heading to the Everglades to do some fishing them we'll probably run back thru the Keys. Tailwinds, Capt Mike

    Okeechobee Waterway

Thanks for the info. Hopefully The Army Corps. gets wise and stops flooding the estuaries with fresh water. They have already caused enough damage. We'll probably be departing September 9th or 10th. Keep in touch. Our vessel is The Path.

We're planning a trip next month from Jupiter, Florida to Sanibel Island, Fl via the Okeechobee waterway. I was wondering if any of you fellow trawlers have any suggestions. Good marinas along the way and information on controlling depths etc. Thanks, Capt Mike

Great Harbor Trawlers still in business?

I believe I saw you guys on the N37 close to Hope Town in the Abaco's a few years ago, At that time I was in a blue 35' Contender named Fishing Fool. I could see why the skipper might have been hesitant going offshore. It didn't seem like it could handle running through the channels if there...

Great Harbor Trawlers still in business?

I looked into these a 3-4years ago, but the extremely slow speed would be a real problem with maneuverability in most currents. Capt Mike

    XM Weather

I am considering adding XM Weather to our GPS. There are a few options from Sirius XM like SkyWatch, Fisherman, Sailor, and Master Mariner. Are any of you out there using this and if so are you happy with it? Thanks

    Simrad CX44

Need help either buying a used Simrad CX44 or getting the one I have fixed. I brought it to Commercial Marine Electronics and they said they can't get the part for it. Apparently it is the mother board, so I called Simrad and they told me they don't fix or have parts for those units and it is...

    Propeller for a 30hp Honda 4 stroke

I have a 2008 12' Apex Rib with a 30hp Honda 4stoke motor. We're only getting 3200 rpms at full throttle trimmed out. I'm pretty sure she has the wrong size prop. Any suggestions on a good prop would be appreciated. Thanks fellow Trawlers

    Chartering a 45' Northwest Trawler

The Northwest 45' was built in Washington state so the Jones Act you are probably referring to does not apply. If your vessel is built out of the US you do need to handle your charters in a different manner, due to the Jones Act. It's not really an approval that you need, I believe you need to...

    Ice Makers

I guess if we had this conversation last year I would have taken a serious look at your vessel. She's nice looking. I just bought my 2008 Northwest 45' in Nov 2012 and I'm real happy with her.

    Chartering a 45' Northwest Trawler

It would not be a bare boat charter, either I or another captain would be taking her (The Path) out. We wouldn't take more than 6 people out due to insurance. We will be doing handling and navigation lessons if that is what the party is interested in.
