    Navionics+Regions

Good to hear the feedback -- it looks like for the 'Regions' version, the charts come pre-loaded so it's just plug and play, but with the standard Nav+ you can download all of the US. Also, the sync feature seems really cool, I just read up on it a little but it seems cool if I spend some time...

    Tips for Newbies

Welcome to the boating world! I think the two biggest things for beginners is time on the water and taking a basic navigation class. I know you mentioned in your intro post that you're only at the consideration stage for buying but getting on boats with friends or with your dad and seeing thins...

    Navionics+Regions

Anybody out there have the new Navionics+ Regions charts? It looks like they just came out this summer. I'm on the west coast and it looks like the area I would venture is all on one card (some east coasters might be split between two cards) so they would be $50 cheaper than the Navionics+...

    Cruise Ship Lifeboat Question

Were the lifeboats fully enclosed or the 'row boat' looking type? Fully enclosed lifeboats should self right but if they are the open top ones, those handles are for if it flips so you can climb up.

    Laptop Assistance

I've been looking at similar stuff and I came across Fugawi (https://www.fugawi.com/). I haven't committed to purchasing yet but it looks like it will work with navionics charts

Navionics charts new port to port routing

Can't comment on the auto-routing with the Navionics charts on Raymarine, but I've used that feature of the app and it's been awesome so far. I find it's really useful when I'm planning an trip to somewhere I'm not too familiar with -- gives warnings when the route goes through shallower waters...

Spending Memorial Day around Cumberland Island, GA

I'm hoping the weather blows past before we get out there to spend Memorial Day weekend around Cumberland Island. We're spending that weekend at a friends river house with access to a small runabout -- any recommendations for places to check out by boat?

Found a deal for prepping to cruise Florida

Cool photos! I've been looking at upgrading my charts for this season and was looking at this Navionics promo for $30 off -- only have a few days left to decide though, since I think the deal ends at the end of the month. The 3D viewing on the charts is what caught my eye...at first it seemed...

    Dinghy electronics

Have you looked at the Vexilar SonarPhone T-Box units? There's the SP200 that's a permanent mount and the SP300 that suction cup mounts the sonar so it's more portable. The units can communicate with the Navionics app to give you real-time bottom profiles overlaid on the charts...and you can...
