    Hull paint color!

Good info thanks all. Since I'm painting it myself I thing I'll have to stick with white, I think I can screw less up that way. But there I go thinking again....

    Hull paint color!

Just thought I might stir things up a bit ha. Tell me why I shouldn't paint my hull Navy blue! Love how it looks on other ships... White don't fade but that don't mean it don't need paint. I said don't 3 times...... So white I guess haha

    Engine room paint choices?

That Devoe tru-glaze sounds good. What kind of store sells that type of paint? All I can see is I have to order it online, cause the google is useless it seems...

    Engine room paint choices?

Never seen zinsser before. I like the idea of no top coat. Just want to start out with a clean ER is all. Looks like the PO used a grey paint that reminds me of something you would use on your garage floor. Seems to have held up nicely.

    Engine room paint choices?

Was hoping I could get some opinions on what I should paint my engine room with, brand or type. Since I cut the old fuel tanks out and cleaned it all up nice, I figure I should paint it, why not. Without knowing any better, I was just gonna use some regular kilz primer and find some paint that...

    Fuel tank suggestions?

Thanks for the info guys. I'm more than likely going poly as I am spending enough money on this rehab as it is, cheaper is better at this point.

    Fuel tank suggestions?

I may even cut a new hatch behind the stairs leading to the V-berth so I can get a longer tank in, why not.....

    Fuel tank suggestions?

Need to put some new tanks in my 34' chb. Cut the old ones out and pulled them out the hatch that used to be for the generator. The hatch the new tanks have to go into is 28"x22"x28" deep. From what I have been seeing I know I can get a 40 gallon poly tank in there. probably end up with 4 or so...

    Raw water pump yes?

I think I'll just put a better clamp on it and see how it behaves before I drop 500$ on a new one. The problem was with the lack of a gasket to the engine housing, leaking oil. Thanks for all the info guys, much appreciated.

12vac-12vdc switch goes to this, what for?

Well I can believe that. Funny, I'm sure it did something at some time, but the PO had a picture of it stapled to a piece of legal paper with a big question mark on it haha. Again, thanks for your input.

12vac-12vdc switch goes to this, what for?

Nothing happens when you flip the switch, didn't look in the box yet. Didn't have a chance to trace all the wires yet. It was hooked up to the elec system, we think the "box" is dead and just wondered what it was so we could figure out what it did. We are probably going to rewire this entire...

For Sale: onan 7.5kw generator for sale

I just pulled this generator out of my boat, don't need one. Its a diesel onan from my 74 chb. It ran fine before we removed it, still turns over fine but we have not hooked it up to fuel and water to run it yet. I also have the wet muffler for it. If the hours meter is correct it was run about...

12vac-12vdc switch goes to this, what for?

So we were looking at my electrical today (new to me boat) and found this box, which appears to do nothing. It was wired to the ac-dc switch on the main panel. Anybody know why its there and what it might do?

    Raw water pump yes?

Looks to me like the hose clamp does the job good enough not to spend $ right now. I'm going to put an actual gasket on and see how that goes before I get a new one. I will probably put a strainer down line like FF says works, seems smart. thanks again for the info

    Raw water pump yes?

Thanks for the info guys. I believe that hose clamp is there because the housing clamp broke off. The black goop was rubbery, not hard, my guess was it was supposed to be the gasket although a leaky one. The oil seems fine. So is that "jab300" the part number? Mine looks a little different but...

    Raw water pump yes?

I can't find anything in my service manual that shows the location of the raw water pump on my 2725e fl135. I'm going to have to assume this is it as it pulls water from a thru hull and leaks a bit, I wonder why... I guess it got the PO home though ha. From what I have read so far its hard to...

    Ok then son...

Well...Not sure what material I'll go with for fuel tanks yet. Gonna talk to a fab shop soon to see what kind of $ I'm going to spend on metals. Plastic tanks have been talked about, would rather not go that way though, but again, I guess it would work for now. Time frame, hmm. Yeah, I would...

    Ok then son...

Just started working on a 1974 chb. Finished cutting out the old rusted gas tanks today. Plan on wiring next. After that the whole #$%!% thing needs sanded and painted/varnished. Good bones but it needs some work. Anyway, I've been taking before and aft pics, so at some point I may post them...
