    Very serious poll

We use the BBQ, Crockpot, oven, stove and steamer. Most meats are done on the BBQ alongside or out on a trip, crockpot alongside or at anchor. Ive just replaced the electric stovetop with induction and am loving it. We both cook although I do all of the meat. Veg in the steamer is healthy and...

    How To Protect Your Thruster

Thats the best way, I put prop jelly on mine instead of bottom paint / anti foul, I have a lot more success with it. Exercise it ever 3 weeks if I don't use the boat.

Use dehumidify mode or reverse cycle heat

If I am away from the boat, I use my reverse cycle A/C dehumidifiers to run for 2 hours in the morning and two hours in the evening. I have 4 but only run two, one downstairs and one up. I realize a lot of boats don't have this luxury, but this keeps it totally dry and prevents that damp odor.

    A New Way to Fish?

While I think its great for underwater video and photography, I think using it for fishing is the stupidest most unsportsmanlike thing I've seen in a long time, my question to the manufacturer is WHY??

    Marine Toilet

There can be only one!! The Tecma is by far the best porcelain throne you will find from small yachts to superyachts. Mine are 7 years old and trouble free toileting. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. They are standard on most new builds out of Asia and Europe. Including all the big names.

    Alum vs FRP RIB dinghy

I have the powder coated AB, I've had it a year now and it seems fine, a few scratches on the bottom but it has the rubber protector, inside looks really nice, and easy to clean. No bubbles on the bottom as yet, but it is stored out of the water when not in use.

Type of Dingy, Inflatable or NOT?

I am big fan of AB ribs, they are probably the best made tender ribs available with a size to suit anybody. I tried the "false economy" of buying cheap and often but in the end after seeing over half the boating community here using AB's I decided to invest. I am seriously impressed. Hypalon...

    Will this Replace Flares?

That video is old, you can no longer get the laser flare. For obvious reasons, there was a major design flaw, lasers and aircraft don't mix at night, especially on NVG's, so LED's replaced the laser. As for the USCG certification, as it was made in the UK and certified there, I'm not sure if the...

Thanks for the warm welcome all. @Seevee, its a great place and yes, there are a lot of pilot/boaters here. Stanley is a great area, but now extremely expensive. No more flying at Kai Tak anymore, its now the cruise ship terminal, although it has a nice typhoon shelter behind it. @Ted, the RR...

    Will this Replace Flares?

There is a really good alternative that I have had on my boat for over a year now, its made by Daniamant and is called the Odeo flare Mk 3. It is battery powered and uses LED's. It is the most powerful LED flare on the market...

    Rods For Trolling

I use a stand up stick that I got from West Marine, its a 5'6 Black fin 50-80. I have 6 of them on my boat as I fish mainly with guys who have never fished before or who are not regular fisherman. I have TLD 30's on them and have caught just about everything trolling has to offer in these parts...

Hi PeterB. The Clipper name is now exclusively used for the Australian market, while Explorer is the new name for the international market. Both named boats are still built to the same exacting standards in the same factory, but Explorer has a line of new models. The Campion brothers who owned...

Hi BandB, yes the costs associated with mooring in HK are expensive, but as you correctly stated, so is the housing. My mooring is 15 M and costs $1288 a month, including water but excluding electricity. I know this is high compared to US costs but it is a much better way of living in HK than a...

its Harvard driver, as I used to fly T6 Texans which are also known as Harvards. The Clipper Cordover is a Trawler type with twin Cummins QSB 5.9's. Mine are de-rated to 230 HP as I use the boat primarily for cruising and fishing. Its a 3 stateroom layout with single bathroom, flush deck and...
