    Interior design

We are toying with the idea of basically stripping out the cabin on our trawler and starting over...mainly due to the PO and builder being 5'5" odd and both of us being considerably taller and wider. Now, dumb question time...not being able to use a CAD program or similar, does anyone have any...

    More shade ?

I am looking at putting a shade sail (triangular) from the bow up to the upper structure to give the front some shade and also some shade cloth window covers as well...the Texas Gulf sun is brutal and its difficult to keep the cabin temps bearable in summer...

Is a water cooled exhaust manifold needed ?

There is currently a very worn genset (Kubota 2 cyl) with a wet exhaust and heat exchanger. I want to replace it with the 3 cyl and larger genhead however that is not currently marinized. I would naturally not use the radiator etc and intend to hook it up to the wet exhaust and heat exchanger...

Is a water cooled exhaust manifold needed ?

Forgive my ignorance yet again Gents, I have been offered a low hours Kubota genset from a lighting tower (8KVA) - is it possible or advisable to hook it up to the existing gensets heat exchanger (instead of the light tower radiator) and water exhaust or does it require further marinization such...

Well, the 'maiden voyage' was a non event...

We rolled down to Rockport this weekend thinking to take our new boat out for her 'maiden voyage' however we found a few issues...apparently the marina had a lightning strike a month or so ago and the marina people came around and disconnected all the shore power cords pending...

Bow catcher or 'How to catch a Boomarang'

Actually, covering the ring and ropes near the ring with those pool noodles or similar would save scuffing...and colored ones would make it more visible as well....

    Engine noise insulation

Personally I wouldnt be putting anything on the ER floor...however cork or another sound absorbent on non horizontal sound reflecting surfaces as well as either boxing in the engines (with adequate and well designed ventilation) and or adding to the existing insulation on the ER roof sounds like...

    Engine noise insulation

@ Aquabelle and Searios, I will be replacing the carpet with sheet flooring asap so underlay will be part of that job. I will also see if I can find some 'cheap' cork tile to attach to the existing ER roof insulation....I will take some pics and report on the effectiveness once done...

    Engine noise insulation

Excellent points, the air intake for the 671 is an uninsulated metal pipe so some lagging around that would help and I will check the engine mounts - from memory they may be solid... There are also many reflective surfaces in the ER itself that could be insulated...and cork stick ons may do the...

    Engine noise insulation

I should have elaborated a bit, the boxing in would entail panels that could be lifted off and away giving full access to the engines. I agree with you Auscan, it appears you get what you pay for and it won't be cheap....
