    Tipping a dockhand

On the other hand the dock hand that helped me tie up and handled the duties of pumping out and helping me fuel up I did tip a five spot. I just hated being extorted a Christmas tip

    Tipping a dockhand

At my last marina they automatically included a tip on my december bill as a Christmas tip for all the workers. I thought that to be very presumptous of them and i resented it very much.

    who doesn't need bottom paint?

Asking a question that is related to topic. Besides just gettting a dirty bottom are there any other problems associated with not painting a bottom in fresh water.

    Oil Pressure Guages

I just had the same problem. I ended up changing both gauges and everything is back to normal. I guessed that one gauge shorted out and caused the problem but didnt go too deep to confirm. My gauges are electric.

    Any Houseboat Owners on Here?

I have a 46' catamaran cruiser houseboat as well as my 32' GB trawler. The main problems I see with the houseboat is the seaworthyness and the economy. Anything over a 3' wave gets dangerous. I get about 1.3 mpg with a single 115 hp outboard. I have no problem with wind but need to be careful...

    Trawler vs. Houseboat

Tony, I traded my 36' sailboat for a 32' Grand Banks.* I also own a 46' houseboat.* I kept it on Clear Lake for 5 years (in South Shore Harbour).* It was my "Kemah Kondo" and gave many days of fun times.* I moved it home to SW Louisiana recently. Only 2 big negatives of the houseboat are...

    Gulf ICW Bridge Heights

I have made numerous trips from New Orleans to Galveston Bay. My mast height was 63'. The "Ellender" bridge (50' normal) is the only bridge that is not manned. You need to give them 4 hours notice. Every time I passed through as I approched the bridge after the 4 hours notice they would call...

    Gulf ICW Bridge Heights

Another thought though. Privious response was for the GICW. There is a 65' bridge at I-10 Slidell (in Pontratrain Lake) and there is a 50' bridge just north of the ICW in Morgan City.

    Gulf ICW Bridge Heights

I know the Ellender bridge at Lake Charles, La. is 50' but it can open much higher. I believe everything else that is fixed is 73' all the way into florida. I just sold a 36' Hunter with 63' clearance and have traveled from Mobile all the way to Kemah

    Trawler Air Conditioning

I too am in the Houston area with a 32' trawler. It has a 16,000 btu marine unit. I had to cover the salon windows to do a good job of cooling. I am about to install a "window" unit in the anchor locker for the v-berth area. I saw an artical in one of the diy boat repair magazines about the...

    Gen Set Min. Size ?

I have an old 16k AC that likes lots of power and my fridge is one of the apartment style 3 cu ft. units. My 3kw does fine. It will power the AC, Fridge, TV, and microwave at the same time (just barely). If i want to use the hot water tank i need to not use the microwave at the same time...

New to this forum - and trawlers

Tony, I just switched over from 36' sail to 32' GB trawler. I still have a 22' sail to satisfy the passion. I am in Seabrooke Marina. I have had a boat in Kemah area for about 10 years. Lots of great knowledge on this site. \

    Auto Pilots

I think that will go with one of the wheel type units. I am leaning toward the CPT system since I am only intrested in going straight. With this unit I will not have to change anything in the steering/rudder control.
