    My windshield wipers didn't work!!!

That would be something to behold. [emoji228] When I was in the Navy, onboard ship, we had fresh water wash down occasionally. All weather decks got the treatment.

    My 2nd life

It is a 28ft Donzi z275. We decided to start small to see. We have gone on the lakes near by and learned to operate the boat, park it, etc. The longest has been 4 days on it. So far I like It. Getting ready to go south on the Tennessee River. My brother Doug lives in Puerto Rico with his...

    America's Cup

Our Lippincott Star had an aluminum mast that you could bend to help shape the mainsail. The newer dacron sails were not as baggy and easier to trim. The difference between the wooden hull and the fiberglass hull was night and day. Great memories from growing up.

    My 2nd life

Welcome Scottb4u, I am a newbie too. I bought my first power boat early this year. I went up on Boaterexam.com and took the safety course. Then I started crawling all over boats and talking to other boaters. To took us about 6 months of looking and research before we made our choice. My boat...

    America's Cup

Yaaa someone that knows what a Star is. My dad's first big boat was a wooden Star.. sailed her on Lake Champlain. Sold her and bought a Lippincott star that had an Olympic Gold Star on her mainsail. I learned my sailing skills on a Sunfish, then the Stars. They are beautiful boats

    Bittersweet the right word?

That IS a life well lived. I bought my first boat this year. I pray I will have stories to tell also? Normal people are in awe of those of us who step off the everyday beaten path. I am praying for Lin and Larry in the days ahead.

    Head door

Thank you all for your suggestions. We decided when we bought this boat that we were going to minimize the wood. We went to Piedmont Plastics here in Nashville. They sold us 2 large sheets of Starboard for $150 each. As soon as I figure out how to get some pictures uploaded, I will show you what...

    Head door

When we bought the boat, it had been sitting awhile in hot and cold, moisture got into the wood. Had to tear all of the rotted wood and replace with Starboard. We used the frame itself to make the shape. Interior of the boat is white, so painting is not necessary. Checked all the salvage...

    Head door

I am missing a head door. There are no parts available for Donzi cruisers any more. I tried making one myself out of starboard, but it doesn't fit the frame very well. For someone who can't saw a straight line, I did pretty well, but the curved corners were a mess. Does anyone know of a...

    Adventure #1: Getting her home

I bought an inexpensive boat. We called several surveyors and they all said it wasn't worth paying for one. It was better served using that money to fix the few problems it had. I believe (in my rookie experience) that if you pay more than $50,000 for a boat it should be surveyed. My insurance...

Best Trawler for a 100k Budget

I am a newbie on this forum. We bought our first boat 6 months ago. We traveled all over looking at different boats, went to dealers and looked at new and used boats. It took about 6 months of climbing all over different ones before we finally found the right one. Have fun looking and you will...

    Cruising on Percy Priest Lake

Catching you up on our experiences with our first power boat (pocket cruiser). We finally got everything up and running. The Head only needed a motor for the Vacuum pump and the water heater needed a new element, so for about $150 we got everything running. YAAAAAAA Last week Tuesday, we...
