    galley-up or galley-down?

Here's the answer to the up or down galley question - satisfies both preferences... it's a midway galley... the chef (who doubles as bartender) is in the group's salon conversation; there's plenty of window light; the refrigerator is within arm's reach; the helm (Captain) also is within arm's...

    SOC gauge

I spoke with a tech about the XANTREX - the tech in British Columbia. He said their monitors didn't have an audible alarm integral to the monitor, but one from an electronics store could be added. The VICTRON 600 does come with audible alarm.. Victron BMV 600 Battery Monitor that's a plus for...

    SOC gauge

I'm considering installing a SOC (status/state of charge) gauge. My boat has volt and amp meters, but I'd like something that gives me a little more battery charge information. Anyone bought/installed a gauge they like or don't like? If so, where did you get the gauge and what was the cost...

    New boat

Welcome aboard Mralki... you're experiencing much the same questions as the rest of is did some time back. BLIGH offered up a nice checklist that you can add to depending on your specific druthers. I did this same thing a couple of years ago - made my list and went from there - and I adjusted...

Not a good way to start the day....

Thanks for the update and pics GFC... amazing that this many glitches are following the sinking... lift, trailer, bridge removal, and that probably only scratches the surface... good lessons learned for us... thanks...

    34 Trawler bilge leak

Thanks for the info Lance.. water where it isn't supposed to be is a strong source of annoyance for me. I never have had good luck with plumbing or water connections... I'm a novice there... Others have had good outcomes with resealing screw holes on the gunwales so that's going to be the...

    34 Trawler bilge leak

Hi Newbie... now no longer Newbie... I see that this is an old post, but how did the problem get resolved? I too have a 2005 34T, and the little bit of water I get in the bilge is rain water. I have plans to do what Vinny suggested and put sealant in the holes.. another leak I have is at...

    Engine survey checklist

Super analysis and summary Dave... lots here that I'm sure most of didn't know about, but now we do. Thanks for taking the time to write and post this. Even though most of us probably aren't in the buying market now, we can check our engines now and not be surprised later. Certainly later...

Here's another site... bought a flat LED that fit perfectly in the salon fixture. OEM was 20w... this one is 4.5w which equals roughly 50w of light. Cost <$3.00 & free shipping. Prices are all over the waterfront; other sites may have = or better prices. LightInTheBox - Global Online...

    Trawler tips appreciated

Brico... I'd also consider Mainships... John Winter has a two stateroom Mainship... take a look at www.mytripjournal.com/JustRelax for many good cruising stories.. I've had my 34T up to 19mph, but that's a lot of wasted fuel... Good luck with our search, and please post updates and photos,

    Converted Sailor - Pilot 30

Jack... I sure like my 34T, single 370 Yanmar. My survey revealed no serious flaws, and for the 2 of us, interior room is adequate. Good luck with your search, and please post pics along the way.

    New Leds

Roger Al... the comparison charts I've been seeing use wattage as a measure of the bulb's brightness output... comparing for example a 60w light bulb with a comparable LED bulb.. the restriction is the size of the recessed light reflector in the fixture in the cornice above the windows - they...

    New Leds

Thanks... my lights were "spec-ed" @ 10w of light - not enough for old eyes, and if I wanted to, I could change the fixtures with ones that used the higher w output round LEDs... not real high on the to-do list, but swapping out bulbs in the meantime would save the amp draw... Thanks O,

    New Leds

My sockets are G4 (4 mm between pins) and these bulbs are G4...a match. The OEM halogen bulbs are 10w and I assume it's 10w because of the heat generated by a 10w halogen bulb. With LEDs there's much less heat and I'd prefer more light. I don't see a higher watt output "bullet shaped" bulb...
