Generally, your generator would supply house power while away from the dock, but you can wire in an inverter to run a few things off the battery while underway. We had a small household fridge that could be switched over to the inverter while we were out. Your house lights will also likely be...
I have a couple of Xtreme heaters (designed bilge heaters) that I keep in the bilge and a few Caframo heaters in the galley and heads. I only winterize the engines and generator. Bilge heaters keep my a/c and water systems above freezing in the bilge and the Caframo's keep a touch of warmth in...
Rest assured it was not a serious comment.
I didn't think anyone here would actually read that and think it would be a good idea.
Same here. 5 gallon bucket, an extra length of hose, and a few gallons of pink stuff through the engines. I also keep bilge heaters on and the water never freezes, so probably overkill, but better safe than sorry.
I agree with WifeyB in that I don't drink when the boat is out of the slip, even at anchor. I'm responsible for my boat and everyone on it, so I want no issues of impairment. Tied up at the dock, sure, but not when we're out.
My first trawler was a '79 34 Mainship and it was a great boat. An occasional couple of guests would work, but you better be comfortable with each other. I remember changing clothes in the kitchen due to lack of space in the v-berth.
Now, you say you want a turn key vessel in the 75k...
Not to hijack your thread, but do you guys that cruise full time carry something like a moped to use while in port? I can't imagine being in a new place, but stuck at the marina.
I'd be a little more hesitant to buy a boat from Memphis simply due to the trip up river. We did it in a 34 Mainship single diesel, but it's slow going. Anything from Pickwick to Green Turtle Bay to Nashville would be an easy trip.
If you go on Yachtworld and expand your search to 37 feet...
You know there are lots of freshwater boats on the TN river system that would likely be in better shape than you average FL boats (sun and salt water issues) and they would be way closer to home.
Uh oh...v seal? I don't think it had one to begin with (I saw something like that on the schematic) so I put it back together as it was. I don't think one was in the service kit that they sent me. You don't happen to have a picture of that seal, do you?
I have neighbors with Bluewaters as you describe and they seem to like them. One took his from Memphis to New Orleans and then back up the Tenn Tom, so it's fairly capable. To me, its a houseboat with a pointy bow, but it has lots of room on one level if that's what you're looking for. When...
I'd suggest finding a boat with what you want engine wise and sticking with it. Trying to retrofit an old boat will likely not be very cost efficient. Also, most boats in the range you are looking at (32 to 36) will be single engine.
This is the WiFi camera I installed. Has motion detection and is easily accessible through my iPhone.

I second the camera suggestion if you have the internet service to pull it off. I put one on my boat a few weeks ago and now I don't know how I went without it. Just ordered a second for the engine room.
Did I miss something? Sounds like folks are suggesting that he add pictures and give a bit more detail about the issues. If I was an interested buyer, I'd want pictures and more details about what happened. Who's not helping here?
As the owner of a 1988 46 Jefferson, would you mind sharing what caused the boat to take on water? Sorry for your loss and wish you much luck with your sale.
Update:
Mitchell with James Nilsson Winchmakers was super responsive and helped me figure out what parts I needed. My package came in today and I can't wait to get it all installed and see my anchor come up without breaking my back! I recommend those guys if you have a need with your older...
