    New to Florida HEAT!

I plan to haul mine out in the winter. Florida is opposite of the Northern states. We stay inside in the AC during June, July and August. The nice weather comes the following 6-7 months. I lived in PA for 66 years and left the cold winters after retirement. Had enough snow shoveling.

Well I Guess They Had To Give The British A Copy!

I do believe I replied to the wrong post and for that I am quite sorry. I was reading several posts this morning and somehow made a mistake. Nonetheless, my statement can apply to some of the other active posts herein. At least I can blame it on old age.

Well I Guess They Had To Give The British A Copy!

Trawler Forum is my respite from the hate and divisive speech found elsewhere on the internet, i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc. Can we please refrain from posting incendiary topics and stick to boating topics?

    NMEA 0183 vs 2000: What's the difference?

The trunk line can be very long lengths, from one end of the vessel to the other. Perhaps the trunk line (backbone) could be routed closer to the distant equipment. I don't have much expertise on the subject as I am trying to learn enough to convert some old Raymarine components to newer 2K...

Add A Candidate So Others Can Vote On...

I came South in my old sailboat in 2010 using the Dismal Swamp Canal, also the Alligator and Pungo rivers. There are mostly game lands and wildlife preserves surrounding the Alligator and Pungo, but its a great deal wider and deeper than the Dismal Swamp. I can agree with David that the Georgia...

    Helm Modernization Progress

Is your helm modernization process using NMEA 2000 certified equipment with the NMEA 2000 backbone? My understanding is the NMEA 2K is the latest and greatest of marine communications networking developed to make using different manufacturer's products easier to network.

    Cleaning heat exchanger tubes

That's an excellent article David. I am providing another link for those that do a lot of their own maintenance. There are articles on several topics and I'm sure you are aware of Mainesail's website https://marinehowto.com/westerbeke-universal-marine-heat-exchanger-cleaning/

    Cleaning heat exchanger tubes

Its my understanding that the tube bundle should be removed so the outside of the tube bundle can be descaled and cleaned as well.

    Going to the Dark Side

I ended with a Mainship Pilot 30 II after selling my sailboat. Wife doesn't need to climb stairs to the flybridge on the Pilot.

    Swim Step Sanding Question

Use a stripper like Citrustrip and a scraper. Better than sanding. Other good choice is a heat gun and scraper.

LED indicator lights on breaker panel.

Thank you for the great information as well as all the other members for their great replies. Now I just need to get underway with this project.

LED indicator lights on breaker panel.

That is an excellent idea. I think I will borrow that idea from you.

LED indicator lights on breaker panel.

Thank you, that's what I was thinking too. I'm curious why LEDs seem to have a short lifetime in this application when the LED light bulbs being sold now for home lighting, etc. seem to have very long lifetimes.:ermm:

LED indicator lights on breaker panel.

The AC and DC breaker panel on my 2004 Mainship 30 II has LED indicator lights beside each breaker and they burn out frequently. I'm just not sure how to replace them with a new LED. Does it require opening the entire panel?
