    Acid Flushing Your Engine

David you need to Man Up.. When someone posts factually bad info and wants to sell it as “gospel”, you know I do not take any prisoners with something like this.. Needs to be stopped cold in its tracks, and you need to learn and understand what I just posted, and then rethink your perceptions...

    Acid Flushing Your Engine

That did not address the real issue.. Just look at the pics--they had drains.. That was a band-aid to settle a "class action law suit over the production run that used the aluminum aftercooler cores between 1998 and about 2005 ish.. Accomplished NOTHING is the big scheme of...

    Pair of Cummins 250 hp

You will be buying a "knockoff" , guaranteed--Plenty of these guys over there that build complete marine engines .. Right off, Cummins NEVER had any mid-range marine mechanical propulsion engine that was EPA T2, that alone should be a RED flag from the get go.. Tony

    Pair of Cummins 250 hp

Cummins does have manufacturing plants all over the world, but understand that the mid-range marine engines that is really what the marine market is all about in this country, are all built here or in the UK..I run into UK engine about 5-10 times a year. The parts to build these engines can...

    Pair of Cummins 250 hp

That's exactly what I wanted..........Plus, I kinda guessed you did it all right.. My thing here was for someone, not me, to show that buying "genuine Cummins" works and is really very cost effective compared ti the "Chinese" knock-offs" that I still am looking for some positive feed back...

additional sensor locations on 1996 cummins 4BT 150 hp engine - temp and oil pressure

Larry, Just an FYI--Header tank temps are very close to the highest temps in a properly operating engine with Cummins mid-range marine engines as discussed here, plus engine coolant circulation is quite high there AFTER the thermostat is open.. The lingo used is "top tank temp" in the...

    Newer generation engines

Marine emissions Just an FYI............ This forum and thread is talking about MARINE propulsion engines in sizes applicable to boats generally in the 20-100 ft range, with 95++% of them in the 30-45Ft range. Tier 4I or Tier 4 final IS NOT applicable to any marine propulsion engines in this...

    Newer generation engines

Low Speed Running My direct experience with CR engines ( since early 2005-ish) leads me to believe that they indeed do better than mechanical engines running at low power settings in relation to there max power ratings or HP used per liter of displacement.. The reason is simple--Each...

    Transmission ??

The Twin disc MG 507 was common with CAT in those days, but if you really want an accurate answer, you need to read the data plate on the gear.. Or usually, some real good pics of the gear showing all of it will allow me to ID it.. Tony

    Oxe diesel outboards

Diesel Outboards Two things that caught my attention: 1) Not less that 33% of the fuel used turns into heat that goes out the exhaust as unused energy. Dry Manifolds & Turbo's start to glow red at at about 25 HP per liter and are get bright red at 50HP per liter and up...........Just how to...

    Engine for my duck

Repowering a "Duck" We did a 40+ ft “DUCK” about 2 years ago.. Replaced a 4-71 with a commercially set up 6BT 210 but deturned it and also used a very heavy duty 3:1 gear.. Weight was not an issue and it work “super” in the 1000-1600 RPM range.. Super smooth and super quite.. Ski is right...

    Twin Disc Shifting Issue

You DO NOT want non-detergent oil.. Per Twin Disc, you want HD SAE 30W ( Like Rotella T or Delo 400)for most climates and 90% of the gears.. A few specify 40Wt, but NEVER non-detergent.. Nor sure where you got that info.. Tony
