    Too many small berths

Ha! Ours is the "tool room". :D To AdkChris: Our first boat was a 35' Taiwanese Sundeck Trawler. It had a full Queen walk around bed in the aft cabin. Our current boat is a 42' Navigator and our master cabin is a full walkaround queen in a midship cabin. As others have said, you...

This is very true! It does make a big difference!

    Show us your helm

It is called a Venturi. I think it’s just a styling thing....or somewhere to attach a surround to. On our trawler it was angled forward and on our motoryacht is leans aftward. It’s real purpose? Maybe to keep stuff like charts and binoculars from sliding/falling off the dash?

    Annapolis in the Summer?

Really great info Everyone!! The commute is really not a big deal. I go into the office about once per month. I might do it a bit more while up that way....but it’s really not an issue. We are really looking for to planning this adventure! You all have really enhanced our motivation to come...

    Annapolis in the Summer?

I totally agree!! I can leave my house in Cary, get to the airpport, fly up to Dulles and get to the office before some of my coworkers get through their traffic. It's nuts.

    Annapolis in the Summer?

Thanks all for the information so far! Most of my work would be in the Herndon, Chantilly, Reston VA area or Columbia MD (I know all about the traffic ), when not working remotely. Annapolis doesn't necessarily need to be the spot. We were just thinking about staging the boat...

    Loop Boat

This made me laugh... :) We have a 42' Navigator and I wouldn't consider her ritzy at all! I am sure some of the newer ones might fit that category... One of my most favorite things on our boat is wide side decks all the way around for easy line handling. And the great visibility from the...

    Is Ocracoke Recovering?

Most of Ocracoke had 7ft of flooding. During the local storm coverage, the owner of Smacnally's said he was standing in neck deep water in his restaurant. There was a lot of damage. The Anchorage Inn and Marina posted on October 1 that it is unclear of when the island will reopen to visitors...

    Mattress

On our last boat we got a memory foam at Sam’s Club.....8 inches of foam with 4 inches of memory foam on top. We rounded the corners with an electric carving knife. I loved it. Tom hated it. We are weekenders on the boat so it worked out well. (Well, for me anyway!)

Dorian aims for East Coast of Florida

Reports from Skinny Dippin' are all good! Our Marina posted video updates all night long! Feeling very thankful this morning!

    Mesh Fabric for Window Covers

Thanks! Will check it out! Also, ordered a sample from Sailrite on the Soltis. Will report back.

    Mesh Fabric for Window Covers

Hi All! I need to remake our windshield cover. It is currently Phifertex standard. Has anyone used, or seen in person Soltis 86 mesh? How does the visibility through it compare to standard Phifertex? I am interested in the Soltis, because it comes in 69" widths and will make the...

One Head or Two for 45' or less Boats?

Our last boat was one stateroom, convertible dinette, one bath. One of the reasons for upgrading was to have real guest space. Now we have two staterooms with private ensuite baths. Do we have guests often enough to need it? Not at all.....but when we do.....it’s really nice to not share the...

    Beaufort, NC Marinas

Long term - Morehead City Yacht Basin by a long shot. Staff, location, beautiful docks, clean bathrooms, cheap laundry, pump out, fuel, walking distance to great restaurants, great area for paddleboarding from the boat, great contractors. Walking distance to a hardware/rigging store. No cons...

    Poli-Glow

To add, when it runs or drips on the stainless, it takes even longer to get off. There are areas on our stainless that I still haven’t gotten off. Don’t do it. You won’t be happy.

    NC Fun Trip Next Week...

Ski - When we go to Ocracoke, we stay at the Anchorage Inn and Marina. Far enough from the Ferry to see them come in, but not get waked by them! They are a full service marina and are perfect for renting a bike or golf cart to explore! Although everything really is walking distance....with...

It Pays To Pay Attention To Peggie

Guest head - not really, no more than to fill the drain. I have not tried abrasives....but it does not come all the way off with general cleaning. I used clorox wipes so to not get cleaning chemicals into the plumbing hoses and tank. Master Head - yes, we get pink spots...

It Pays To Pay Attention To Peggie

Peggie DOES ROCK!! Two years or more ago you helped Tom and I replace our heads, and we couldn’t be happier! I do have a question though. Our guest head is rarely used...I may flush it once a month or so. I noticed when cleaning last weekend that the bowel now has a crunchy texture. Our...

    Communications While Docking

With all the years of experience you have, you’ll be fine. If you were able to dock your sail boat without issues, nothing should change! When leaving the dock and I am working the lines, I call out, “spring line onboard”, “stern is free”, “I am onboard”, “bow is free”. Then I walk back to...
