what should replace my old HVAC?

Great question, I don't know, but the owner is an engineer and they advertise that they do custom work so I bet they would. Give them a call, I would love to hear from you regarding the answer. :)

what should replace my old HVAC?

I'm sure they are very happy with their choices in Euroland, however short lived and rust stained they may be (remember I have one and I know how well they hold up being just near the coast let alone being on the water) but I live here and am responding to the OP regarding his US boat...

what should replace my old HVAC?

Psneeld is absolutely right, if replacing a unit, it is dead simple as long as the wiring and plumbing is up to snuff. I did both of my units in 3 days and that included splitting the raw water plumbing to include 2 pumps and separate the raw water system to make the units isolated except for...

what should replace my old HVAC?

I would highly recommend (I have 2 16800btu units) the Ocean breeze company, it is building units for the US Navy and USCG as well as being used by mega yachts and commercial boats world wide. Over the counter components (uses home type thermostat) with no computer board or proprietary...

what should replace my old HVAC?

While the home mini-split systems may be the "Bee's knees and a bag of nuts" ( I have one in my garage at home). Those of us who actually care about the looks of our boats will most likely will find another system to provide for our climate control needs. The longevity of a system using painted...

1983 Mainship Mk III Trawler: Oil Pressure Sensor

The sender needs to play nice with the gauge. VDO has a weird (EU) ohm scale that is different then standard, be sure you get the same Ohm rating.

1983 Mainship Mk III Trawler: Oil Pressure Sensor

I bet you have a duel station and it's a VDO gauge, correct. The sender needs to be a duel station sender and the problem you have is most likely a bad gauge or a loose wire to one of the gauges. The ohms are cut in half with the loss of resistance of one gauge so the value doubles and send the...

    Backing

I agree, we like our privacy and have a nice seating area aft so I most often bow in, we board from the sides as well as they are low and covered. We really like looking down the fairway instead of under the dock and up at the dock walkers in the evening. Thruster so it's not a matter of...

    CO monitor false alarms

I also have had the same experience, $29.00 broken Xantrex battery charger alarm powered by 2 AA bats. Xantrex is Latin for "Prince of Darkness" :thumb:

Hot water in cold water lines

0559116 - Watts 0559116 - 1/2" LFMMVM1-UT, Lead Free Threaded Mixing Valve Easy to install and should be required, does not change hot water capacity and allows you to adjust temp to boat by blending cold water in stream via valve and controlled by thermostatic proportioning balance valve.

    New Electronics

Copper sheet on top side 1/4 starboard on back side. I had a table with copper sheet top (like a bar top) the had a nice weathered look (no shine) thin enough and will wear like iron with no maintenance required, easy to work with (unless you want to). Just an out of the box suggestion.

    We're going bigger.

NICE!! Congratulations New rule, if anything new comes aboard something must leave. Hey it sounds good in theory. People are like a gas, we expand to fill our container. Enjoy and smooth seas to you and yours.

How To Tell Electricity Went Off At Boat

I have a container of ready ice in the freezer and if the cubes are gone and replaced with a block of ice, well the freezer was off. I also have like most here a not frost free refer so defrosting is a regular need, if all of a sudden I did not need to do it the next time aboard I would then...

    Leak

Pool supply places have a test kit for salt water as many systems now use a low amount of salt added to the water to electronically breakdown the compound to create chlorine (Salt chlorine systems). Get an inexpensive test kit so you don't need to use your body as a testing unit. (bilge water is...

Self Contained Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning Change Out

True and perhaps not at any added cost at all. The owner and engineer at Ocean Breeze told me that the heat pump side really does not save over the strip heating option they sell (no difference in price). The units are designed to be a drop in replacement for all boat units and therefor he did...

Self Contained Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning Change Out

Oh just drape them along the rails with the carnival lights. They must look like crap, sorry considering as they are not made for direct salt spray and look like Sanford and Son rejects bolted on to the back rails of a boat and cost near the same as a boat AC does (I have one...

    Do you stash a key?

I keep mine in the Sheriff's Office patrol boat 2 slips away. ;) Just kidding, but not about the SO boat 2 slips away, key in start switch and access is available to authorized folks. I can get in if I forgot my key, not interested in discussing how.

How often do you haul your boat.

Diver 3 times a year, he replaces zincs once a year. On the hard for bottom paint every 2 years with ablative and propspeed and I do other over the side yard work at that time.

    Do you stash a key?

I had this with my hanger, I left the lock with 3 preset and one wheel one click off. In the dark I knew the wheel to turn one click and open the lock, also let me know if someone fiddled with the lock while I was gone.

I am impressed with this product

It seems to have a lot more UV inhibitors in it then MopNGlow but the trick seems to renew the surface well before it fails and yellows or peels. Or so I have been lead to believe.

    Anchor Insurance

Depending on where you are you may get some help diving on your anchor. Note, those are saltwater mangroves in the background. Lawn lizards can and do roam in salt water for a bit looking for food before returning to fresh/brackish water. Don't do it at night when they feed.

Fresh water tanks.... (was in bubbling toilets)

I did the same thing, then I read the ingredients on the "Sweetener" label and found it to be the very same active ingredient as bleach, sigh. Now I just use a bit of bleach to get a very slight smell of chlorine in the water (about 8 ounces per 100 gal), let it sit overnight and then...

    Battery management

I have a solar system and it is solely responsible for the day to day charging of my house banks as well as engine, gen-set and thruster batteries by way of 3 Belmar 12v to 12v DC chargers working off the house batts.. It works great and always maintains 100% charge as shown by my SOC gauges...

    Battery management

A remote watering system with auto off float caps will allow you to keep FA batteries topped off without bending over and without even seeing the batteries. Just put the hose in a gallon of distilled water and pump to automatically fill to the proper level all the cells at once, takes about 10...
