    Scratches on swim platform

If not using the smaller patch, I would need to buy a can of "one step finish" and some tubes of tint to use the sprayer. I wonder if a smaller can is available. What tint are needed for different "grey scales" of white?

    Scratches on swim platform

I saw this premixed gel coat scratch patch at the west marine store. It is only available in "buff white" so the color may not be a perfect match, but it should be much easier to apply than using the paint sprayer. @STB have you used this premixed patch on small area repairs?

fuel lines for CDH diesel heater

the Yamakato line is a "fuel line for small engines/generators" so i thought diesel heater fits into the category. It didn't say A1 standard so I bet it does not meet A1. It will be used inside the bilge, I don't expect any damage from physical abuse.

fuel lines for CDH diesel heater

I purchased a 5/32" (4mm) ID rubber hose to connect from the fuel source to the dosing pump, and use as the short joining pieces from the pump to the heater. I just noticed its OD is 6.4mm, so the hose has a very thin wall. In comparison, the espar 5mm fuel hose for connection from the source...

    Crack in er hatch beam

Thanks. but a normal drill bit leaves a straight hole instead of a tapered hole. do you mean using a normal bit plus a countersink bit, then using chisel to cut into the beveled edge?

    Crack in er hatch beam

yup, this work is tricky and can use some prudence

Are these the brad point bits that you mentioned?

    Crack in er hatch beam

That I don't worry too much. I always mark the pilot hole depth on the bit and go slow

    Crack in er hatch beam

how do you use a small chisel and a hammer? to create the same recess?

    Crack in er hatch beam

I see, brad point bit create a non tapered recess to fit the screw head. Do you have to first use the brad point bit to make the recess, then change to a regular drill bit for the pilot hole?

    Crack in er hatch beam

flat head is more intuitive to fit the countersink hole. using a pan head bolt, can you still use the same countershink bit to make the head flush with the surface?

    replace a gfci outlet

no, I didn't connect the 12v dc to 110 v system. don't see any reason for doing that. I was looking for a 12g stranded wire in hd and the store cut the yellow wire as a gift. the same green wire was not available. so I used it as the grounding with a label attached.

    replace a gfci outlet

i checked the terminations didn't see other defects. unless the inside wire stands snapped when I wind them inside the electrical box.

    replace a gfci outlet

I noticed the outlet has lost power. In my test, It turned on and off in a wiggle. The terminals are still tight. Only thing I noticed is the insulation on the neutral has broken, exposing strands. So I applied heat shrink tubing on the wires. Now the ground wire connector has become too thick...

    Scratches on swim platform

For sanding at the very first step, do you use 100 grit wet paper/ block? then for the other two sanding steps, use 600 grit wet paper?

    Scratches on swim platform

Thanks. so "sanding past the damage" means not to sand vertically through the damage and deeper. this video did not use a repair putty before filling gelcoat into the dent. He opened up the crack a bit, grinding the gelcoat just down to a "laminate" for the gelcoat to bond to. Does the...

    Scratches on swim platform

At this step "spray the damaged area, but extend it out to the areas", do you mean to spray the gelcoat? What can and sprayer to use?

    Scratches on swim platform

there are two more points on the swim platform edge where the gelcoat has chipped off due to a deck bumper. I have covered it using Nashua tape but now the tape wont come off. I'll post a photo after I remove the tape.

you mentioned a ro sander and buffer. does this BAUER 12 Amp, 7 in. Variable Speed Rotary Polisher/Sander do both so only one machine is needed? to my surprise a polishing pad is almost as expensive

    diesel heater choice

This is the fuel system picture from the espar d4 manual If this hcalory is a copy from d4, it likely uses the same fuel lines. Are these what you have used: Suction side: 5mm rubber hose (9) Pressure side: 3.5 mm rubber joining pieces (7) and 1.5 mm hard nylon line (8) All these numbers are...
