    Vessel insurance update- Fall 2019

https://www.superyachtnews.com/business/the-state-of-the-insurance-market This article covers a lot of the fundamental changes that are going on with marine yacht insurance. Most of us probably don't own superyachts but the trickle down effects us also.

    Shrink wrap vs tarps.

I get my boat wrapped to keep leaves, rain & snow off it. And on a sunny day it does put some warmth in boat as a bonus.

Tight Fit for a cruise ship!

The ships engines are also used, the tug & towing bridle is used to keep the bow centered. Also the hydraulic pressure that forms on either side of the hull helps keep the vessel centered.

Shipping a boat to Italy from Texas

As BB said - if you can fit it in a container that will be the best option. Both Wallenius and Grimaldi (and a couple others) have Ro/Ro ships that sail from Galveston to Europe. Call them to see if either goes to your destination, otherwise call a freight forwarding company and let them...

Speed is handy, provided the Wx allows you to use it. Last month we took our 28' Crozier around Prince of Wales island in 3 days & 2 nights, which is about a 300 nm trip. We went clockwise, starting and finishing in Ketchikan. Being able to get around Cape Chacon in just a few hours after...

Trim Tabs for Dual Outboard Setup?

You could mount 2 tabs - 1 one either side of the port & stbd. drain plugs going as far as possible without touching the metal swim platform support. That being said you are under powered if you truly want to plane with the weight your boat now weighs. Are you getting full RPM from your...

    Finally, the build will start.

"I'm intrigued by the whole process of CNC/laser cut parts kits that can be made from CAD plans, and welded together to create a boat. That seems like a very effective way to build a one-off." This is how my boat began - a lot of pre-cut Alu sheets that showed up on an 18 wheeler.
