    Best docking line assist pole?

Yup. Grab-n-Go hooks are great for grabbing a mooring buoy ring. It’s just not so easy to unclip it when one leaves.

    Best docking line assist pole?

The Grab-n-Go is made and works well. The reason I switched to the Hook and Moor is because it passes the line back to the boat. The Grab-n-Go clips the line to the cleat or mooring making it difficult to unclip when it’s time to depart.

    Best docking line assist pole?

Hook & Moor Telescopic Boat Hook is the one I have on board. Haven’t used it a lot, but it has worked well.

Marina living - what are we missing in this budget list?

Black water pump-out costs. Many marinas offer free pump out if one moves the boat to a designated pump out location. However, you’ll have to hire a pump-out service should you decide not to move the boat to the station when needed. Edit: Oops, Alaskaflyer beat me to it!

Grand Banks 42 Classic Curtain Help

I have an ‘86 GB42 Classic. I’ve attached a quick sketch of the “mushroom” curtain connectors sewn into the curtain fabric. Those curtain connectors then slide into an aluminum track which is mounted under the valance the length of the window.

    Cat 3208 water in engine

I replaced the risers on my Cat 3208 naturals not too long ago. The part numbers are 8L3453 and 8L3454, left and right. Photos below. Top of the riser is well above water line on my GB42. Like any part that comes in a Cat box...they’re pricy!

    MMCC Man Made Climate Change

Actually the earth has gone through dozens of cooling and warming periods. Read about the “Mini Ice Age” from about 1300 ad and about 1860 ad. Very interesting. How did it start and end? And that started when the earth was still flat!

    MMCC Man Made Climate Change

I’m a geologist by profession. I often provide a time scale of earth history based on one year of our human-made calendar; January 1st being the formation of this planet and December 31st being the present. I provide this geologic time scale to demonstrate the vastness of earth history and...

If traditional (non-political) science had this attitude a few hundred years ago, our earth would still be flat!

Extending your anchor rode while anchored

One of the “bend” knots will usually work well and evenly distribute potential chaffing and load; characteristics two bowlines won’t achieve. Sheet bend comes to mind.

    Teak Deck (over fibreglass?)

Reseaming an old teal deck is a good thing, if done correctly. The seams between the teak strips keeps the lions-share of the water out.

    Waterproofing teak decks

^ this!!!! Teak decks actually need minimal time for maintenance unless they have been treated with various teak "killers". Keep the seams and bungs in good shape and learn to enjoy and appreciate grey.
